More stars are becoming associated with "Fifty Shades of Grey," either by talking about it in the media, reading it, or their names being linked by fans to key characters in the book.
Some stars also want to know who will play the key parts of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey and want to actually be cast as one of the roles.
According to WetPaint, "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale hinted at playing Anastasia.
"I'm definitely a huge fan of the books. Obviously I'd be thrilled to be a part of it," Lucy said in Haunt Muse magazine's most recent issue, where Hale is the cover girl, "but I think it's in the very beginning stages of it all."
The "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," "Fifty Shades Freed"), written by bestselling author E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey, and both explore Christian's world of BDSM while trying to understand their complicated relationship.
Gather Entertainment said that Hale, a fan favorite for Ana, would look good paired with "White Collar" star Matt Bomer as Christian Grey.
Hale openly admitted that she was on the "Fifty Shades" bandwagon, and talked about playing Ana.
"I'm on 'Fifty Shades Darker,'" Hale, 23, said in an MTV News interview in July, name-dropping the second book in James' saucy trilogy. "I get flustered even talking about it, so yeah, I'm on that train."
MTV News also talked to her about the fan support for her landing the leading role in the movie. "People have said that, but people have also said [I could play] the little sister, which I think could make sense, because I look a little young for Ana, but God, what a big role to take on," she said. "I'm really curious to see how it's all going to [play out]."
Hale said that any involvement with the film would take her career in a different direction, and she's comfortable with that type of diversion.
"I definitely am ready to take a step and do something a bit more risky, absolutely, but it's a fine line," she said. "I don't know what that fine line is, but I'm definitely ready to explore a darker side of my acting abilities."
Books & Review fans also agreed she could play Anastasia. One commenter said, "I could definitely see Lucy as Ana. She has to be young, naive, demure. I see it definitely." Another said, "I think she is perfect, give her contacts and she will be Ana."
Hale is featured in two Books & Review polls, one where fans vote who they want to play Ana, and one where fans vote for couples.
Hale is paired with "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard. She and Skarsgard are up against couples such as "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" star Alexandra Daddario, and "Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
