The prolific author Stephen King, known for his thrilling horror and suspense books, has announced his latest work and teased that he might return to writing "The Talisman" series.
King recently went on the "Talking Scared Podcast" and talked about his future projects. He told fans about a new book and the chance to return to a beloved series, which made fans happy.
King said that his next book, "Always Holly," will center on Holly Gibney, a heroine readers have loved since her "Mr. Mercedes" introduction. Originally a little role, Holly has become a major player in King's crime books. King is becoming increasingly interested in Holly's character, and he has planned a new adventure for her that looks like it will be as interesting as the others.
King discussed how he came into the concept of "Always Holly" during his discussion on the "Talking Scared Podcast." King got the idea for Holly to take on a case as a bodyguard for a politically important woman from the real-life event of Lady Gaga's dogs being stolen.
King observed that the sole requirement was to incorporate a stalker and disturbance, underscoring the suspenseful elements that would propel the narrative. King's fans cannot wait for this new book because it will combine his trademark drama with modern social issues.
The main character, Holly, is known for having OCD and a traumatic past, making her relatable and interesting. Holly is a great example of King's skill at giving his characters depth and complexity. "Always Holly" will likely show how she deals with new obstacles and stays strong.
King hinted at the chance of returning to "The Talisman" series, which he started with the late Peter Straub. The books in this series, known for their complex fantasy features and multiple universes, are "The Talisman" and its follow-up, "Black House." King said they had started developing ideas for a third book before Straub died.
King said he had to read "Black House" again because he found notes and a letter from Straub that laid out possible story points. One intriguing suggestion was to base the plot on the infamous serial killer Charles Starkweather.
King did not say he would write a third book, but what he said shows that he is seriously considering it. People who liked "The Talisman" series can still hope that Jack Sawyer's stories will keep coming.
The book centers on Jack, a young man searching the Territories for a legendary talisman to save his ailing mother from a parallel world. In the sequel, "Black House," Jack is an adult who has quit his work as a detective but finds himself drawn back into criminal investigation. The mix of magic and horror in the series has kept readers interested for decades, and the idea of a new book is exciting for fans of King's literary world.
