'The Marriage Bargain' By Jennifer Probst Expecting a Film Deal; 'A Sexy, Fun Read' [REVIEWS]

Ever wanted to get married without falling in love?

Ideally, people don't think marriage can be without love, but that's what was supposed to happen in "The Marriage Bargain" by Jennifer Probst.

The bestselling novel is currently #19 on the New York Times E-Book Fiction list.

The book is described:

The sizzling first book in the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling Marriage to a Billionaire trilogy by "one of the most exciting breakout novelists" (USA TODAY) Jennifer Probst.

A marriage in name only...

To save her family home, impulsive bookstore owner, Alexa Maria McKenzie, casts a love spell. But she never planned on conjuring up her best friend's older brother-the powerful man who once shattered her heart. Billionaire Nicholas Ryan doesn't believe in marriage, but in order to inherit his uncle's corporation, he needs a wife and needs one fast. When he discovers his sister's childhood friend is in dire financial straits, he's offers Alexa a bold proposition.

A marriage in name only with certain rules: Avoid entanglement. Keep things all business. Do not fall in love. The arrangement is only for a year so the rules shouldn't be that hard to follow, right? Except fate has a way of upsetting the best-laid plans....

Recently, Entangled Publishing sold rights of the "Married to a Billionaire" trilogy, which "The Marriage Bargain" is the first ebook, to Simon & Schuster imprint Pocket Book in a seven-figure deal, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Bidding was heated for the book that spent several weeks in the Top 10 of the New York Times' combined e-book and print bestseller list. Entangled will actually print the first 170,000 copies of "Bargain" beginning Sept. 4, with Pocket taking over thereafter, including the entire run of followup titles.

A film deal is also expected soon. The Chicago Tribune reported that Entangled also retained film rights, for which Gersh is expected to make a studio deal soon.

"The Marriage Bargain" moved more than a half-million copies in just six months, and is still selling strong at around 5,000-units-per-week. The title just released Sept. 5. The second title, "The Marriage Trap," will be released Oct. 4 in print and e-book, with the final installment coming in November.

The book also got rave reviews.

GoodReads commenters said:

"I have to admit, the hot cover was the first thing that drew me to the book. And was I glad that the content justified it. In spades."

"An incredibly fun, light, humorous and sexy read!"

"Jennifer Probst took the Marriage of Convenience plot and with her witty dialog, the strong build of sexual tension and finally those hot love scenes and made this a winner."

"Loved it! "The Marriage Bargain" had all the ingredients for the making of an amazing story: Childhood friends reunited, Marriage of convenience, Love spell gone astray, opposites attract and great chemistry. This was my first book by Jennifer Probst, I came across it by chance on the goodreads website and was I ever glad to have found it. The story was funny and charming, a fresh take on the old "Marriage of convenience" story line, there were no boring moments and the story kept me engaged to the end."

This is one deemed-helpful review from a Barnes & Noble commenter:

"This book brought so many laughs, I got teary eyed, aggravated, excited through this whole book, you name its filled with so much emotion and attachment to the characters. I sat down and read all 400+ pages in less than 5 hours, I couldn't put it down! This was the first adult romance book to buy or read, totally worth it, highly recommend it."
