New details for the Kindle Fire 2 have surfaced.
According to Trefis.com, the new Kindle Fire 2 will feature Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core processors.
Rival Google's Nexus 7 is also powered by Tegra 3.
The new Kindle Fire will also come in two versions.
According to ZDNet, Amazon will unveil not one, but two versions of the Kindle Fire 2 at its Santa Monica press conference on Sept. 6.
The Fire may come in 7-inches and 10-inches. One tablet will be supported by advertising to reduce the cost, according to an unconfirmed report in the Wall Street Journal.
ZDNet reported that according to Reuters, "Amazon.com Inc's new Kindle Fire will have mapping services via a tie-up with Nokia Oyj ... filling a gap in the tablet's capabilities while snubbing Google Inc's popular service."
Amazon is also expected to announce a new Kindle Touch with an illuminating display to rival with Barnes & Noble's launch of the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight.
Leaked photos of the new device were recently revealed by The Verge.
The photos show the Kindle with a "Paperwhite" backlit display.
"Along with one or more new Kindle Fires, we're expecting refreshed E Ink models in Amazon's e-reader line at the company's Los Angeles event next week as well. One of those appears to be a refreshed Kindle Touch - the button below the display is gone, and the bezel has changed from light to very dark gray," The Verge reported.
"The overall shape of the product and the location of the USB port and power switch appear to be essentially unchanged. From the images we have, it looks like Amazon will be touting the unit with "higher contrast, high resolution, integrated lighting, and eight weeks of battery life," even when using the light."
The new Kindle Fire will also have Skype, according to reports.
WebProNews reported that on the Sept. 6 event, other rumors suggest that the company will be announcing an entirely new Kindle line with updated hardware from everything from the Kindle Touch to the classic original Kindle.
Amazon recently announced that its Kindle Touch is out of stock, according to Gather Technology, which just over a week until the new Fire is expected to be unleashed.
Engadget reported that both of WiFi and 3G versions of the reader are no longer available as new devices from Amazon's US pages. Customers will have to go to a retail store or get a virtual bargain for used models. This could be in light of Amazon announcing the new Kindle Fire 2 very soon.
ZDNet reported that the Kindle Fire 2 will probably cost $199 and an ad-supported Kindle at a lower price, possibly less than $175.
The Kindle Fire 2 is expected to have a new processor, new display touchscreen technology and new build, as well as a new mobile operating system with Amazon's custom build that will not support Google's Play Store and other Google products and services.
The new Kindle will have a 1280 x 800 resolution, different than the current 1024 x 600 display. This will make it sharper and more vibrant. It will be thinner and lighter than the original.
