It looks like Robert Pattinson is not comfortable promoting "Twilight" with his ex-girlfriend after all.
The New York Daily News reported that insiders working on the final film, "Breaking Dawn Part 2," said Summit Entertainment is "freaking out" because they are unable to get Pattinson to lock in personal appearance dates to promote the flick in Madrid, Tokyo and London, despite pleading with him to do so. For the first three "Twilight" films, Pattinson has traveled with co-starts Taylor Lautner and now-ex-girlfriend Stewart.
The 26-year-old British actor is unwilling to commit to tour dates "because of the Kristen drama."
In July, photo revealed Stewart, 22, cheating on Pattinson with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders.
"Taylor, Kristen and Rob always fly together," said the insider, adding that if Pattinson isn't willing to bite the bullet and do the dates with Kristen - who has repeatedly expressed interest in reuniting with her ex-boyfriend - the studio will "have to spend a lot more money on jets and other expenses" to accommodate their breakup.
"This is really last minute," added the insider, saying tour dates "start about a month out" from the release of the flick.
In the meantime, Summit execs are keeping their fingers crossed. "Apparently, [Kristen and Rob] have been talking again," says the source, so the studio "is holding out hope that they'll do the tour dates together."
"They're prepared for the fact that Rob might not want to, since he hasn't committed to anything yet," the insider reiterated.
It was recently revealed that the Summit execs have a back up plan if things don't go right.
The New York Post reported, ""The studio's holding out to see if they get back together. But I don't think anyone is banking on that happening," said an insider. "At this point, the press strategy would have been mapped out. It's usually very organized, but at this time it's undecided."
Sources said Stewart and Pattinson could attend premieres separately if they don't reunite. Ashley Greene (who plays Alice) could step into a more prominent role at promo appearances should fans' dislike toward Stewart continue, and she would be the main lady beside Pattinson to walk down the red carpet.
In August, it was reported that the "Cosmopolis" actor agreed to reunite with Stewart at the premiere of "Breaking Dawn Part 2" so she doesn't get a hard time from fans.
"He's told movie bosses he'll walk the red carpet to save her from embarrassment and any female fans booing her," the source told The Sun newspaper.
It was also recently reported that Stewart, Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner (Jacob) will not be appearing at the upcoming final fan conventions promoting the epic finale in the Saga, "Breaking Dawn Part 2."
