Amazon is gearing up the Kindle Fire 2 for a very soon release date.
Rumors are spreading that Amazon will be announcing the new Kindle Fire at a press conference on Sept. 6. Now, more details reveal that another Kindle will be revealed as well, to go alongside with the Fire.
According to Tech Radar, a new Kindle has shown up at the FCC suggesting that Amazon may have a regular Kindle ready to rock alongside the oft-rumored Kindle Fire 2.
The device was registered by an anonymous company called Hannaford LLC, which the detectives over at The Digital Reader traced back to Corporation Service Company, known to be a front used by Amazon.
Going by the product code "EY21", the new Kindle comes with both Wi-Fi and 3G and will be rectangular - that's about all that can be gleaned from the application documents. The documents were apparently submitted in October 2011 and tested on March 2012.
Tech Radar explains that under "product description," the documents state, "Model EY21 is an ereader. The primary use of this device is to download the ebook and periodical offering from the content provider. Model EY21 does not support voice transmission" and adds that "the wireless operations are operator-independent."
This is exciting news for e-reader fans.
WebProNews reported that on the Sept. 6 event, other rumors suggest that the company will be announcing an entirely new Kindle line with updated hardware from everything from the Kindle Touch to the classic original Kindle.
This goes in line with what was revealed earlier about Amazon releasing several different tablets.
Various tech sources reported that Demos Pernernos, president of U.S. retail for Staples Inc., which sells the Kindle Fire tablet, said that Amazon will be introducing five or six new tablet SKU's (or stock-keeping units) this year. The report confirmed that the tablets will vary in size, and one will be at least 10-inches, and will rival with Apple's iPad and Google's Nexus 7.
In more news, Amazon's Kindle Touch is reportedly out of stock, according to Gather Technology, which just over a week until the new Fire is expected to be unleashed.
Engadget reported that both of WiFi and 3G versions of the reader are no longer available as new devices from Amazon's US pages. Customers will have to go to a retail store or get a virtual bargain for used models. This could be in light of Amazon announcing the new Kindle Fire 2 very soon.
Amazon has been adding more alluring content to its existing Kindle to possibly draw more customers when it releases the new Kindle.
According to Pop Herald, NBC shows are coming to its Prime Instant Video service following its content licensing agreement with NBCUniversal and New Media Distribution.
Amazon's Prime service allows members to access context by using the company's own tablet computer.
NBC's popular content like "Friday Night Lights," "Parks and Recreations," "Parenthood," "Heroes," and others are joining the Amazon Prime library. Members can get access to the new content at no additional cost on Amazon's own Kindle Fire and other supported devices like Mac OS X computers, Windows PCs, Xbox, Playstation and iPad.
The Kindle Fire 2 is expected to have a new processor, new display touchscreen technology and new build, as well as a new mobile operating system with Amazon's custom build that will not support Google's Play Store and other Google products and services.
The new Kindle will have a 1280 x 800 resolution, different than the current 1024 x 600 display. This will make it sharper and more vibrant. It will be thinner and lighter than the original.
