Lindsay Lohan always seems to make headlines with her bizarre actions.
The 26-year-old actress was hesitant while shooting a steamy sex scene in her new upcoming movie "The Canyons," but according to reports, she got some help from the crew.
Sources connected with production told TMZ, the scene required Lindsay to go topless, but she was so uncomfortable with the idea of baring her bosom in front of the set's 10-man crew, she asked them to strip down with her, to their boxers.
The crew was hesitant at first -- but according to sources, they eventually obliged, stripping down and shooting the entire scene in their skivvies ... and it all went off without a hitch.
This comes with a surprise because she posed nude in one of the most widely-viewed Playboy issues of all time.
"They were down to their underwear," a source told ABCNews.com. "It's a common thing for a crew to do to make actors feel less self-conscious."
According to the Daily Mail, Lohan's publicist Steve Honig said, "The cast and crew have been working with her to make the film as compelling as possible."
The film, written by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, takes a look at the seedier side of LA life.
The Canyons' director Paul Schrader told how the troubled actress was not his first choice for the role, but he had been impressed with her after a meeting at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood.
According to omg! Yahoo, after Schrader gave the actress a glowing review on Facebook last week about her good work, many Lohan detractors scoffed at Schrader's words.
In a follow-up post this past Sunday, he reiterated his feelings in a spelling-challenged rant. "I read the reactions to my earlier post about Lindsay and other film actresses with curiosity," he wrote. "Lindsay certainly fires up intense feelings. We pay performers to dance on the edge of the cliff and the closer they dance the more we pay them. Lindsay is one of those performers who dance on the edge and, as such, her performance in The Canyons is reminiscent of other actresses on the edge--Gena Rowlands is the one who most often comes to mind. And, at cliff's edge, she's magnetic. The truth of the tale will be in the work itself. Just wait."
According to a press release, "The Canyons is a contemporary L.A. noir about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their 20's and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence."
Lohan plays an ex-model, Tara, in "The Canyons," and she stars in the film with adult film actor James Deen. According to ABC News, she's expected to finish shooting this week.
