New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver will be releasing two new books as part of her book deal with HarperCollins Children's Books. The novelist behind the hit dystopian young adult series "Delirium" is working on "Replica."
As per Publishers Weekly, the book tells the tale of a replica human model named Lyra, who also goes by her unit number 24. All her life she stayed in a secret research facility called the Haven Institute, until she decided to run away, only to meet Gemma in a journey that will lead to the revelation of "earth-shattering secrets."
Oliver confirmed the news about her book deal on her Twitter account. She tweeted out "All right, friends. Thrilled to announce a new YA project I've been working on for years-coming to you next fall!!"
The deal was made by editorial director Rosemary Brosnan after a negotiation with InkWell Management literary agent Stephen Barbara. "Replica" is slated for a September 2016 release.
At the moment, there is no available news about the second book to be written by Oliver. The novelist won't give any clue, but Bustle would like to think that the tweet above suggests that the second book will be part of an existing series rather than a standalone one.
2016 will be a big year for Oliver and her fans. Apart from a new book, next year will also mark the release of the movie adaptation of her debut novel "Before I Fall," released back in 2010. Unlike her latest books, this novel is far from any dystopian theme and more about life, love, loss and death.
As per Deadline, the film version of the book will see Zoey Deutch play the role of popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, who gets to live the last day of her life multiple times until she gets it right. The movie will touch on questions about how a person will spend their last 24 hours on Earth.
Other cast members include Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Kian Lawley, Diego Boneta and Elena Kampouris. Liv Hewson is the latest addition to the ensemble. Ry Russo-Young is set to direct while Maria Maggenti and Gina Prince-Bythewood collaborate for the screenplay.
The "Before I Fall" film adaptation is originally a project of Fox 2000, but Awesomeness Films, the movie division of multichannel platform AwesomenessTV, has taken over the whole venture.
