Katie Holmes is going to be ok.

According to IBTimes, a new published interview has revealed that Holmes is slowly getting back into the swing of things after announcing that she will be divorcing Tom Cruise after five years of marriage.

The interview, which featured in August's issue of Elle Magazine and was conducted in May, featured a photo that IBTimes said "A thousand words can be read in the face of the Elle cover, with 'ready,' 'bring it,' 'mother,' and  'fierce' burning bright in the eyes of Holmes. As feisty as she looks, Katie also shows a certain level of sadness and melancholy in the photo."

"I'm starting to come into my own," the former Dawson's Creek star said. "It's like a new phase." The star also said she felt "sexier."

"I feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I feel sexier. In my 20s, it's like you're trying too hard to figure everything out," Holmes said, who was pictured on the cover of the magazine.

A source told the New York Post that Holmes did not appear content in her marriage during the interview which took place mid-May.

The insider said: "Katie didn't speak about Tom in a lovey-dovey way at all. She deflected the Tom questions and brought them around to herself."

Holmes, who appears to be dealing well with her new-found freedom, has been photographed laughing and smiling for the first time in recent weeks, according to IBTimes.

The interview also revealed that Holmes may have been planning to leave Cruise months ago, and she said that she didn't want to talk about him, according to the New York Daily News.

"He has been Tom Cruise for 30 years. I know who I am and where I am and where I want to go, so I want to focus on that," she said. "Things are not handed to anyone. If anything, you work a little bit harder when you're in such visible circumstances."

Many reports say that the 33-year-old decided to go through with the divorce to protect her daughter, Suri. Reports say that she is filing for sole custody of the 6-year-old.

According to MTV, sources told Us Magazine that Holmes is trying to get her career back on track as it had been heavily controlled by Cruise, who wouldn't allow her to do films that included "sexually compromising scenes, largely because the Scientology folks objected."

An unnamed source told Us, "She's been miserable for a long time, but the last couple of weeks, she's been happy - like she's been set free ... Every move she made and everything she did was controlled ... She felt like she was in Rosemary's Baby."

With all this going on, Holmes is remaining optimistic. The New York Daily News said that Holmes is working hard on the eponymous clothing line she started with stylist pal Jeanne Yang in 2009. They are planning their first public presentation at New York Fashion Week in September, Women's Wear Daily reported.
