Fans of the immensely popular "Harry Potter" books have something to look forward to come 2016. Bloomsbury Books, the U.K. publisher of the well-loved series, has revealed the theme for Harry Potter Book Night 2016 slated for Feb. 4, 2016.
As reported by The Guardian, readers old and new can expect a night of magic with the theme "A Night of Spells." It is the event's second run, with the first book night held in early 2015.
The organizers announced on the official website, "We are very excited to announce A Night of Spells as the theme for Harry Potter Book Night 2016. Whether it is the disarming Expelliarmus or the dreaded Avada Kedavra, spells are at the very heart of the Harry Potter books so it's the perfect theme to inspire a spellbinding event!"
According to the same website, for the year 2015, there was a grand total of 10,500 parties held simultaneously around the world to bring together fans and celebrate the series.
In a 2014 interview with The Telegraph, Wendy Cooling, founder of the Bookstart program, says, "The Harry Potter books got so many children into reading because they tell such great stories and introduce truly memorable characters."
For the event, organizers from anywhere in the world could download official event kits from the publisher's website. Booksellers, librarians, and teachers are invited to participate, with discussion guides available for specifically for parents and teachers.
These guides intend to "encourage self-expression, inspire student writing, spark critical thinking, explore series fiction, and much more," according to the official website. However, just about any enthusiast can throw his or her own Harry Potter-themed party. The event is intended for all.
According to its website, Bloomsburg Publishing is an independent publishing house established in 1986. It has offices in London, New Delhi, Sydney and New York. Aside from the "Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling, its children's books division boasts of a roster of illustrious authors such as Neil Gaiman, Alyxandra Harvey, Louis Sachar and Carrie Jones.
First published in 1997, the "Harry Potter" series follows the story of an orphan boy who turned out to be a wizard, and the books take its readers to the magical place of spells, mythical creatures, potions and wands. The series is one of the best-known in the world, and it has been translated to many languages. The "Harry Potter" books also grew into an empire composed of theme parks, movie franchises, musical adaptations, and loyal fans around the globe.
