When "Fifty Shades of Grey" was in development, fans who read EL James' books had their own imagination on what Christian Grey would look like. The same goes for "Fifty Shades Darker," who will introduce another man in Anastasia's life.
Jack Hyde will appear in the sequel of the blockbuster film adaptation. Rumors about "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill taking on the role of the red-haired Seattle Independent Publishing commissioning editor have become uncontrollably rampant.
In an interview with E! News, the actor responded to the speculations. Unfortunately, he did this in the vaguest way, fueling rumor mills to churn details about his possible inclusion in "Fifty Shades Darker."
"Basically what I can say is I can't say anything about it right now," Cavill told the entertainment portal, which may have been understood by many that he was in talks with the people behind the franchise. He then quickly retracted his statements, saying he was just playing around.
According to Movie Guide News, the "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor is just simply showing how fed up he is getting asked the same question and having to deny it each time.
Before things go out of hand, "Fifty Shades" producer Dana Brunetti stepped in to clarify the rumors too. In a recent interview with E! News, she talked about how "insane" these speculations are.
"Somebody posts something on some obscure blog and then it gets picked up by something a little less obscure and it keeps going. Fans are starting the news by saying things like [the Cavill casting]," Brunetti said.
She then revealed that there's no truth about this rumor as they themselves are "nowhere near casting" for "Fifty Shades Darker." "We haven't gotten into anything like that. We don't even have a casting director on it yet," she added.
What's sure right now is that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson will be back as Christian and Ana in "Fifty Shades Darker." It is also believed that Jamie Foley will be directing the much-awaited sequel and the third and final movie in the series.
Apart from Cavill, "Mad Max Fury" star Charlize Theron was also rumored to play a part in the upcoming film. When asked about it during the red carpet event for "Dark Places," she was quoted by The Inquistr as saying "I haven't heard that one."
"Fifty Shades Darker" is set to hit the big screen on Feb. 10, 2017.
