After countless rumors, leaks, sneakily captured photos and constant digging of possible evidence, the inclusion of Paul Monroe aka Jesus in "The Walking Dead" season 6 is finally made official.
Jesus is a major character from Robert Kirkman's comics and is one of the individuals fans of the AMC post-apocalyptic hit series have been dying to see in action.
Just recently, a photo from the set made the rounds and it showed an actor, whose identity was unknown at that time, looking a lot like the cult-favorite character complete with the long hair, vest and bonnet.
It didn't take long for AMC to formally announce that Jesus is indeed coming in "The Walking Dead" season 6 with "Luck" star Tom Payne chosen to essay the all-important role. His arrival should shake up Rick, the group and the whole of Alexandria.
[Spoiler Alert!] According to Tech Times, Jesus first appeared in issue #91 of the comics. He was introduced as a representative of the Hilltop Community, which is another walled community.
Being a survivor, Jesus packs a set of survival and fighting skills. He is described as generous and reasonable. Jesus worked on having the site trade with Alexandria, but he had to prove himself trustworthy to Rick and the gang first. Soon enough, he became their ally and advisor.
His line of business puts him right against Negan, the fan-favorite villain and one that viewers have been longing to have on board the hit series. Negan, as fans may already know, is the leader of The Saviors," a group that behaves opposed to their name.
With Jesus making an entrance, it is expected that the repugnant, baseball-bat wielding psycho, whose storyline completely entangles with that of the former, will finally wreak havoc in "The Walking Dead" season 6.
For Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick in the series, Negan's arrival is inevitable. "There are astonishingly brilliant and thrilling characters that I am convinced we would be idiots not to meet in our journey," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter.
"I would be very surprised if we don't see Negan on the horizon in the not-too-distant future," he went on to say.
Interestingly, a casting call of a certain character whose attributes include "physically imposing, charismatic, brutal, smart, ferocious and frightening," was unearthed by The Spoiling Dead Fans. The fan site believes the vivid description is that of Negan.
"The Walking Dead" season 6 premieres Oct. 11.
