R.Kelly's Autobiography Out

R.Kelly, the talented R&B singer who's had a long and illustrative career, has a book out about his life.  There is so much sensational moments in the singer's life that the book could have been a great tell-all and a "setting the record straight" type of book.  But it, apparently, is not that kind of autobiography.  In "Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me," R.Kelly avoids all the controversial moments of his life including the sex scandal that could have landed him in jail.

However Associated Press reporter Jesse Washington writes,"despite its guarded tone, the book is a vivid and entertaining journey that reveals much about the musical engine of a true artist."

R.Kelly is a living legend in the R&B world by any standard and this book is about seeing how he became the musical genius that he is today who has produced one hit after another for himself and other musicians. Kelly says that it was his middle school teacher who recognized his talent.  She would tell him, 'You are going to be famous. You are going to write songs for Michael Jackson. You are going to travel the world.''

While Kelly stays away from fully discussing his sex scandals including having sex with a minor and owning child pornography videotapes, which were found by prosecutors.

''I never considered my music sinful,'' he says. ''For the most part, what people see onstage - R. Kelly bumping and grinding, dropping my pants, seducing women - that's all show business. What I do onstage doesn't mean I jump off the stage and continue my act in real life.''
