Jose Baez, the lead attorney behind the Casey Anthony criminal case has a new book due out on July 3.
Baez has gotten a bad rap in the press because many believe that his tactics were underhanded and that he was ultimately responsible for freeing a criminal. "In Presumed Guilty, Casey Anthony: The Inside Story" Baez tries to set the record straight, clear some misconceptions as well as tell his side of the story. Casey Anthony was acquitted last year of murdering her 2-year-old daughter.
The Associated Press bought an advanced copy of the book and from media accounts, it appears that Baez is not revealing anything new in his book but rather bolstering the arguments he presented during the trial.
The Associated Press reports, "describing how Anthony led detectives on a wild goose chase, even taking them to Universal Studios where she falsely claimed she had a job, Baez writes, detectives "should have stopped and realized, 'Wait a minute, we're not dealing with someone who is playing with a full deck.'"
In addition, to the assertion of Casey Anthony's mental instability, Baez also sticks with the argument that Anthony was sexually abused. The Associated Press says "Baez repeats the allegations of sexual abuse in greater detail in the book, saying it contributed to Anthony's mental health issues."
However, what is new in the book is that Baez reveals what it was like for him to be part of one of the most notorious criminal cases in recent history. He writes that he suffered a deep depression, which made it difficult for him to even enjoy his wife's pregnancy.
