"The Flash" is acclaimed for being loyal to its comic book counterpart. This is why there are higher expectations of the show's second season, which was already teased to tackle a multiverse, wherein an infinite number of worlds marginally different from the other exist.
Movie Pilot thinks that this will help "The Flash" season 2 rake in more viewership, higher ratings and ultimately overthrow other competitors. This storyline categorically offers so much possibilities and a slew of more characters, both good and bad, to come to the fold.
Jay Garrick, for one, is showing up in "The Flash" season 2. The world could hear comic book buffs "fangirl" over the exciting news. The character is the original super-speedster and he will be appearing not only to warn Barry of a bigger threat but actually help him prepare for it.
In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlyn in the series, said Jay Garrick is "going to have an impact on everybody on Team Flash." "He's going to be a very cool mentor to Barry and he's going to help Barry expand his powers and the things that he's capable of doing," she said.
Jay Garrick will be brought to life by Teddy Sears from "Masters of Sex." Meanwhile, it was also announced that Wally West will also be part of the gang in the new season. He is the speedster that eventually becomes Barry's sidekick, Comicbook writes, there's no news on who will play the character though.
"The Flash" season 2 cast also bulks up with the other speedster, Zoom, who is one to add to Barry's problems. Movie Pilot says he has never done anything good in the comics and he did evils that are just too heinous, making him the best to play the season's new villain.
As per iDigital Times, Zoom will makes things harder for Barry, harder than Eobard Thawne made them to be. It won't be easy to defeat him as "He's faster than the Reverse-Flash, faster than Flash and will be very hard to catch," executive producer Andrews Kreisberg revealed via another Comicbook report. "He's going to be terrifying and scary and fast, and it's going to be all kinds of cool," he added.
The multiverse storyline is also the reason Tom Cavanagh, whose character was killed off in the season 1 finale after Eddie kills himself, remains as a series regular. He is believed to essay the role of Zoom from another dimension.
"The Flash" season 2 airs October 6.
