LG G5 Release Date Looming? Top 5 Specs & Features Expected in New Flagship [Rumors]

Just three months after the LG G4 was released, there are already rumors concerning the flagship's successor dubbed as the LG G5. According to these speculations, the latter will be made much more powerful and will debut a feature that's yet to be seen operational in the mobile world.

According to GSM Arena, the future flagship of the South Korea-based tech firm will be among the first smartphones to feature an iris scanner. This feature will effortlessly toss the device into the top of the flagship chart, as most premium handsets available only have the fingerprint scanner.

A boost in the biometrics department will undoubtedly slay competitors, and LG is reportedly getting help from local biometrics specialist, Irience, to integrate the high-grade feature on the LG G5. Back in May, it was already reported that the development was already at an advanced stage.

According to PC Advisor UK, this iris scanner is being developed to work at a distance of 50 centimeters, which is an arm's length. This, in itself, is an advancement towards the iris-scanning technology, which at the moment, can only scan as far as 30 centimeters.

The publication adds that Irience has already conducted a demonstration of the iris scanner, and it reportedly left Industrial Bank of Korea in awe and on board the project. For the LG G5, the front camera, which will be made 3D, will be used to scan a user's retina.

Meanwhile, a report by Latino Post hints another massive upgrade for the LG G5. According to the site, the flagship will boast a 21.4MP rear-facing camera, which should promise stellar photos. The front shooter is said to be at 8.3MP, enough to capture the most stunning selfies.

PC Advisor UK says that the device will be scaling the display size to 5.6 inches, which should render a crisp and sharp 4K resolution. It will also pack a monstrous 4000mAh battery, and it is rumored that this unit can fully juice up within an hour, thanks to Qualcomm's fast charging system.

Design-wise, LG is expected to do something revolutionary because, despite those above massive and potent package, the LG G5 is expected to be ultra-slim as well. Should all this come to pass, LG G5 will be the one to watch.

As per PC Advisor UK, the LG G5 will likely see the daylight as early as spring next year. LG will have to make the most of the LG G4 first.
