Just when fans thought "The Flash" couldn't get any more comic book-y in season 2, characters from the tales of the fastest man alive in the DC Comics were confirmed to join the party. For a start, fans will see Jay Garrick and Wally West in the new season.
For the uninitiated, these two additions are also speedsters like Barry in the DC Comics universe. According to IGN, Jay Garrick is the first ever superhero to exhibit such powers and the original Flash is the bearer of bad news in "The Flash" season 2.
"Jay Garrick has never been portrayed in live action," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said during the show's panel in San Diego Comic-Con via Deadline. "Now that we established our Flash, we thought it would be great to bring in the original Flash to create a brand new relationship with Barry."
As per Variety, Jay Garrick is "a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop." He will be played by "Masters of Sex" star Teddy Sears.
"Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas," Kreisberg said via Comicbook. "It is so exciting, as we rush into season 2, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn't imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy."
"The Flash" season 2 will also have Wally West running around the realm. This was confirmed by the Flash Writers Room Twitter account. There weren't any more details to bolt though. In the comics, Wally is known as the kid flash and the speedster to show up after Barry.

Also, to make "The Flash" season 2 super-charged, the show will add a new villain in the form of Zoom. "We're really excited about Zoom," Kreisberg told Deadline. According to the report, Zoom will be "faster than The Flash."
Lastly, a new character which isn't as fast as these three additions will also be making an entrance. As per Entertainment Weekly, Barry will find a new love interest in Patty Spivot, a police officer and science enthusiast who will be Joe's new partner.
Patty is described by the aforementioned publication to be "obsessed with metahumans." Barry takes notice of the new girl and vice versa, but Joe won't have any idea about who his new partner is crushing on. The character will be played by Shantel VanSanten from the short-lived "The Messengers."
"We were huge fans of The Messengers and are excited to have Shantel join us to help complicate Barry Allen's love life in season 2," Kreisberg said as per Entertainment Weekly.
"The Flash" season 2 is set months after the last season's events. Executive producer Greg Berlanti, as per Deadline, says that "We deal with the fallout of the cataclysm that happened at the end of the year. As we used the particle accelerator to introduce the metahuman, we'll be introducing characters from Earth 2 on the show."
The Flash" season 2 will air October 6.
