The "Star Wars" realm is only getting bigger over time. With "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" blasting in theaters by the end of the year, and more sequels planned by Disney and Lucasfilm with the likes of "Rogue One" and Han Solo's very own spinoff film announced just this week as reported by Books N Review, it can be said that the geekdom behind the franchise is the most electrified and pampered fanbase there is.
Notably though, majority of the franchise's following are no longer youngsters, as the epic space franchise was first made popular way back in 1977. Now, the Force is extending its big creased hands to the new generation, with the intergalactic adventures of the Jedi and Sith to be told in children's books.
To make "Star Wars" geeks out of the youth of today, Little Golden Books will be immortalizing the legendary space tales in books under Random House, Entertainment Weekly reports. In fact, the company is starting early, with the first six books already up for a July 28 release.
These books are "The Phantom Menace," "Attack of the Clones," "Revenge of the Sith," "A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." According to Polygon, a boxed set with all six books will be for the taking starting September.
"The Star Wars franchise has woven itself into the hearts and minds of generations of fans, many of whom read Little Golden Books as children," Jeanne Mosure, Senior Vice President, Group Publisher, Disney Publishing Worldwide stated in a release picked up by Entertainment Weekly.
"We're very excited to be incorporating Little Golden Books into our overarching strategy so parents can now introduce their own children to the wonders of the galaxy through this classic format," she continued.
Book covers for the six books set to release in two weeks' time are already here to goggle at, with Jedi-bibliothek first leaking them in May in all their colorful glories. The cover arts are full of lightsabers, Stormtroopers and a fierce Yoda.
Ultimately, the books serve as the gateway for kids to the world of knighthood, chivalry and hardcore science fiction and space battles the world has loved and cherished for four decades now. Concocted inside the brilliant, imaginative mind of George Lucas, "Star Wars" ultimately redefined pop culture.
