Netflix has announced its lineup of its first four original films coming as early as this October, TIME Magazine reports.
The first four original films being released include Cary Fukunaga's "Beasts of No Nation," Adam Sandler's "The Ridiculous Six," American-Chinese film "The Green Legend" and "Pee-Wee's Big Holiday".
"Beasts of No Nation," starring British actor Idris Elba, is set to be released on October 16. The film is directed by Cary Fukunaga of "Jane Eyre." On the same day, the film will also be released in select theaters nationwide.
The story is based on a novel of the same title written by Uzodinma Iweala. It depicts the story of a young boy, Agu, who was separated from his family to serve in the civil war in an African country. Elba is playing a commandant who leads Agu through the war.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the second film, to be released on December 11, is Adam Sandler's "The Ridiculous Six." This comedy film is just the first of four Adam Sandler movies being released via Netflix.
The film was directed by Frank Coraci and written by Tim Herlihy and Sandler. The actor is also starring in the film along with Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Rob Schneider, Luck Wilson and Taylor Lautner.
Netflix also announced on their website that "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend" is set to be released sometime during the first quarter of 2016, both in China theaters and Netflix. The American-Chinese film is directed by Yuen Wo-Ping, a martial arts choreographer and director.
The movie is a follow-up film to the Oscar-winning original called "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
The story is about four heroes of the Martial World - Silent Wold, Yu Shu-Lien, Tie-Fang and Snow Vase. The heroes combine forces to save the sword, Green Destiny, from the hands of Hades Dai.
"Pee-Wee's Big Holiday" is another comedy film starring Paul Reubens. The film was directed by John Lee and written by Paul Rust and Reubens himself. It is set to be released on March 2016.
The story is about a stranger convincing Pee-Wee Herman to go on his first-ever holiday. The plot then blooms to a tale of friendship and fate.
