Illustrator Luciana Powell has written and illustrated a great book for Father's Day reading with your kids. "My Dad is the Best Playground" was inspired by an everyday ritual in her household where when her husband came home from work, he would undo Luciana's hard work of cajoling their two young sons to go to bed. Her husband, Michael, in his excitement to see his kids would get their adrenaline rushing after Luciana had wound them down so they would want to go to bed.

In an interview with her local paper in Santa Fe, New Mexco, Luciana said that her husband's "monkeying around" gave her the idea for the book. "I say "Oh gosh, the jungle gym is home" or "Oh no, the playground has arrived," she said of her reaction when her husband returns home after work.

She added,"That's the beauty of fathers and kids. "Moms are usually more careful but dads need that crazy physical play, and I wanted to celebrate this because it's something special dads do that a lot of people can relate to." Luciana, a digital illustrator who's worked for Random House and other publishers, said that she wanted to celebrate the roughhousing that fathers are usually more inclined to do with their kids than mothers.
