"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" is one of the biggest and most awaited live-action comic book adaptations poised to set officially in motion and introduce the developing DC cinematic universe to the movie-going community, but it wasn't a big of a deal when it was pitched to Warner Bros.
When director Zack Snyder first thought of giving this epic battle a silver screen treatment, he definitely did not look at it or consider it as huge as it is now, and he absolutely didn't think through or dream, in any way, shape or form, of making it the forefather of all DC movies, Cinema Blend reports.
Apparently, it doesn't always end up great for a person who decides to say aloud what goes on inside his or her mind. Such is the case for Snyder. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" director revealed that the superhero conflict was merely meant to be an Easter egg in the "Man of Steel" movie.
"I said, 'What about at the end of the film we do a scene where there's a crate full of kryptonite delivered to Wayne Manor.' Everyone was like...'Okaay,' Snyder shared. He adds that "Once you say it out loud, it's a problem because you can't unsay it."
This slip-up eventually had fans in the geek community giddy, crazy and thankful because now "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" is official, and there is already a massive hype building around it. Ben Affleck will suit up as the Caped Crusader while Henry Cavill will be back as the Man of Steel.
Now, the film is deemed the fans' gateway to a bigger DC universe, with the movie setting the stage for the formation of the Justice League. Snyder describes it as "a marathon within a marathon" owing to the inclusion of a bevy of popular good and bad guys from the comics.
Wonder Woman and Aquaman will be in the film to be played by Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa respectively. Lex Luthor will serve as the antagonist in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" with Jesse Eisenberg donning the bald head with the supreme criminal intellect.
Notably, in the new batch of stills Warner Bros released via another report in Entertainment Weekly, Luthor wears frizzy brown hair but those locks aren't going to last. There are photos of Batman intensely looking into the dark pouring sky. Another where it was Superman's turn to stare into the blue and a little Bruce Wayne and Diana Perry flirty action.
In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Affleck revealed that his version of Batman will be "embittered and cynical" and is "on the verge of being swallowed up by the anger."
"Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in cinemas on March 25, 2016.
