An extended trailer for the most talked about "Steve Jobs" biopic is finally out, giving fans a comprehensive look at lead actor Michael Fassbender starring as the revered Apple co-founder. In less than three minutes, the video that's bursting with drama, conceit and animosity showed that the tech wizard wasn't very lovable, Variety writes.
"Musicians play their instruments. I play the orchestra," Fassbender's Jobs replied to Seth Rogen's Steve Wozniak, who questioned why he is being called a "genius" with genuine repulsion and giving a manifold of reasons that he isn't. The movie's meat comes from the pages of Walter Isaacson's best-selling Steve Jobs biography.
CNET says the trailer made a stop on the technological wunderkind's three critical points of his life. In the video, his troubles with his family that continues to fall apart were touched on. It also showed how the company he built is now kicking him out, and his propensity for making everything an absolute perfection.
Esquire says that the "Steve Jobs" biopic will tell his story without fear or favor and will depict both Jobs' glories and failures as well as his tribulations and worries. Academy Award-winning director, Danny Boyle of "Slumdog Millionaire," held the director's seat while Aaron Sorkin of "The Social Network" took care of the script.
According to The Verge, a slew of actors contended for the coveted role that Fassbender ended up snatching. The likes of leading men like George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were rumored to being considered. Also, Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale's names were also dragged into the project.
Along with Fassbender and Rogen, "Steve Jobs" stars Kate Winslet as former Macintosh Marketing Chief Joanna Hoffman, who, in the trailer, also worked the long hours helping Jobs mend his relationship with his estranged daughter. Jeff Daniels plays as Apple CEO, John Sculley.
Katherine Waterston played the character of Jobs' ex-girlfriend, Chrisann Brennan while Michael Stuhlbarg was chosen to play the role of Andy Hertzfeld, who was part of the original Apple Macintosh team that started it all. As per Variety, "Steve Jobs" takes fans on the wings of Apple's biggest product launches that culminate to the iMac showing.
Back in 2013, a movie simply titled "Jobs," which depicted the virtuoso's' rise to success was released. It had Ashton Kutcher at the front and showed how the college drop-out, who had dreams, worked in his parent's garage with a friend and eventually went on to shape and define the digital future as the world knows it.
"Steve Jobs" is out October 9. Check out the trailer.
