Producer Kevin Feige has given a clue to what the next "Spider-Man" movie will be like. The new standalone movie will bring out the "soap opera"-like side of the story.
"It's the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting," he told BirthMoviesDeath in an interview.
"Just as we hadn't seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven't seen a John Hughes movie in a long time," he continues.
Also, Feige assured that, unlike previous movies, this next one will not be closely following the origin story. It will focus on showing Spider-Man as he was in the comics.
He says, "Not that we can make a John Hughes movie - only John Hughes could - but we're inspired by him, and merging that with the superhero genre in a way we haven't done before excites us."
The inspiration for the producers, John Hughes, is a director and screenwriter that made some of the most successful films in the late '80s including the all-time classic, "The Breakfast Club".
Moreover, a new face will be playing behind the mask of the superhero. New York Times reports that Tom Holland will be starring as the new Spider-Man.
Nineteen-year-old Tom Holland, who is also a dancer, started his acting career when he played the main role in "Billy Elliot the Musical" in London. He also starred in the 2012 film, "The Impossible."
"He's one of us and has tremendous skills as an actor. His years as Billy Elliot have served him well," Ron Howard, director of Tom's upcoming film "In The Heart of The Sea," told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Howard continued, "He does his own stunts, some really challenging ones, He's very down to earth, very hard working and has a great sense of fun."
The next "Spider-Man" is expected to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
The upcoming movie will not only be featuring a new lead actor, Feige also hints new villains unlike anything fans have watched before.
The lineup of previous "Spider-Man" villains includes Green Goblin, Electro, the Sandman, Venom, Doctor Octopus, Rhino and the Lizard.
"That's the advantage," Feige adds in the same BirthMoviesDeath interview, "Right now we're interested in seeing villains we haven't seen before."
This year, another Marvel comics has been adapted into the big screen.
"Ant-Man", held its premiere last night and the film will be released in theaters on July 17, Entertainment Weekly reports.
