Tim Gunn is known for dishing out the harsh truth on the contestants of his popular reality TV show, "Project Runway," and he did not hold back on giving star Kim Kardashian his two cents worth on her best-selling book "Selfish." Speaking to Us magazine, the 61-year-old fashion guru said that Kardashian's book of selfies "disgusting and vile."
Gunn further commented on the other parts of Kardashian's coffee table book. One particular photograph that caught Gunn's attention was a photo of Kardashian taken while inside her car. The photograph's caption says, "I took a selfie at a red light while driving. I think that's illegal now," to which Gunn said in reply, "Well, she's illegal." Additionally, when Gunn saw the photograph of Kardashian sticking out her tongue playfully, the TV host said in disgust, "To all the young people out there in particular: Banish this. This is disgusting and vile. What if this is the only thing that survives in the time capsule?"
It was not only the photographs that Gunn mocked. Even the captions did not escape his keen eyes. "'I just got this Fendi coat and was in New York,'" Gunn reads the caption of a photograph written by the star. "'I was in a taxi and took this selfie to send to Kanye to see if he liked my new coat. He did!'" At that point, he rolled his eyes in disgust and jokingly said. "I feel my I.Q. is plummeting." But Gunn was not too excited to see the voluptuous TV star's half-naked body, as he quickly closed the book before he even got to see it.
This will not be first time Gunn commented on Kim Kardashian, particularly her style. He has been vocal about he feels towards Mrs. West. In an exclusive interview with HollywoodLife, Gunn mentioned that KimK "needs to mature," and he has "no interest" in dressing her. "The clothes we wear are a form of semiotics to send a message about how the world perceives us. If that's how she wants to be perceived, then she's doing a good job of it," Gunn said.
Kardashian's book, released last month, has been met with mixed reactions. Animal rights advocates showed the strong disapproval of the book's main subject during a book signing event because of Kardashian's preference to wear real fur. However, the sales of the book was not affected by the protests as it quickly became a best-seller, with more than 1,000 copies sold in the US. Critics also gave mixed reviews on the book, while fellow Hollywood stars like Lena Dunham of HBO's "Girls" proudly showed off her "Selfish" moment on Instagram.
