Sally Holmes, a young and vibrant young woman, decided to try out what it is like to be in Kim Kardashian's shoes and clothes (Spanx included), makeup and even her diet. The Elle.com senior editor wanted to dress like the reality star in celebration of Kardashian's new best-selling collection of selfies, titled "Selfish," andHolmes has been pretty much split about her entire experiment so far.
First off, she noted how Kardashian's clothes are too tight and curve-hugging. "After squeezing into my suction shorts (please allow ten extra minutes for pulling waist line past thighs), I put on the green skirt and crop top (crop top! ahhh!) and looked in the mirror," she writes in the magazine's website. "CURVES. EVERYWHERE. Since the skirt is a sample, it's probably two to three sizes too small, so the fit is not just body-conscious, it's body self-conscious. But this, I noted, is exactly how Kimmy would wear it, so I, on the most toppley heels I've ever worn, left my house and took a cab to work," she adds.
However, when Holmes opted for something more simple, she immediately realized that Kim K does simple in a different way. "Since Kim doesn't do simple, even when it comes to a jeans and a T-shirt look, the whole thing is fitted to her bod like she's wearing denim paint," Holmes explains.
The clothes from Kardashian's closet do not come light in the pocket as well. All of Kardashian's clothes are definitely not made for the average woman, with at least $1,000 price tag for each day, Extra reports.
Aside from the discomfort that Holmes felt throughout the process, she surprisingly felt more confident about herself, saying, "How did I feel? Super aware of the fact that my body was on full display, but also, kind of fucking fantastic."
"I think in the past five days, my coworkers have seen more of my body than in the 15 months I've worked at ELLE.com," Holmes concludes. She continues, "I certainly made a statement and drew a lot of looks, but clothes don't make a person, and these outfits, even though they, in a backwards kind of way, did give me a certain boost of confidence, didn't fully make me Kim Kardashian. But, I certainly tried."
Dressing up like Kardashian also led Holmes to a newfound admiration for the best-selling author. "Dressing like @KimKardashian taught me that GF is VERY very brave," Holmes tweeted.
