"Mass Effect 4" is turning heads with the revelation that their protagonist is actually a female.
As FuseJoplin reported, the game developer has confirmed the female Shepard to appear on "Mass Effect 4."
Lead animator for BioWare, Jonathan Cooper, revealed in an interview that when they created Shepard, it was initially made as a female.
It took a lot of arguing from the entire team just to create FemShep.
"We had a really tough time about ten years ago. The team was arguing and discussing different scenarios. While the players had the power to customize and change the character as they please, it was FemShep that we created first. The entire team was happy and proud of the creation," said Cooper.
People got even more excited with the idea of FemShep after cosplayer Freya Willia created a representation of the character, as The Escapist stated.
According to the site, Willia took two years to perfect her artwork. She posted her costumes on her Flickr account. She also edited some pictures in Photoshop featuring her "vac-formed styrene and carbon fiber vinyl" suit, according to The Escapist.
FemShep was voiced by Jennifer Hale, according to PCGameSN. BioWare even took a community survey to finalize FemShep's look. In the "Mass Effect 3" reversible cover, the devs have already incorporated the female hero.
Meanwhile, a Reddit user noted that the new FepShep is "better."
According to JKOTV, "the romances are much better as a FemShep I never had trouble choosing because it seemed like the only worthwhile romance was Tali and maybe Liara but as a Femshep I actually asked for help on here for who I should choose there are some much better options."
The user also noted that "Mass Effect 3" "is so much better as a female, for a start the voice acting is better."
Others, on the other hand, are suggesting to play both characters but still sticking to "femshep [being] considerably better."
StickerBrush said that he first tried out the male character "cause I'm a dude." But when he tried FemShep, he "loved it and really bought into the voice acting."
So far, users are impressed with the voice acting but some are not liking the romance idea of the FemShep.
"I enjoy playing femshep for the awesomeness of Jennifer Hale's renegade dialog [sic], but I just can't bring myselfto coo sweet romantic dialog at a dude. Thank god for Samantha in ME3," said thruthful_whitefoot.
BioWare hasn't dished out the release date of "Mass Effect 4" yet but according to Latinos Post, development plans for the PS4, Xbox One and PC title were announced in 2012.
