Jamie Dornan gave his first interview since bagging the coveted role of Christian Grey in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey" revealing his excitement on landing the part.
The 31-year-old actor described the anticipation of waiting for a phone call from director Sam Taylor-Johnson to see if he would be offered the part, Entertainment Weekly reports.
"I was sort of pretending I wasn't waiting, but the phone was in my hand, halfway to my ear," he told the magazine. "
The movie was in limbo after "Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam abruptly quit the role in October, a little over a month after getting cast. Universal Pictures and Focus Features were in a hurry to recast the male lead and Dornan was one among the rumored names to grab the role. The "Once Upon a Time" star along with actors Billy Magnussen and Francois Amaud all tested with Dakota Johnson, who is cast as Anastasia Steele.
Ultimately, the role went to Dornan who told EW that he felt playing the kinky, dominant billionaire would not only change his life but his acting career.
"There was a slight fear," he said. "But beyond anything else, I was really f**king excited."
For Johnson nabbing the role as the shy college student also meant her life was about to change but there was the added pressure for her to seriously start working out because she wanted "to look good naked."
It seems like both Dornan and Johnson are not shying away from the explicit sex scenes they will soon start shooting. While Johnson is working on her fitness the former Calvin Klein model said he has no problem stripping to 'bare nothings' for the camera.
"I'm a fairly worldly guy," Dornan said. "I grew up in a very liberal place. I'm not saying we had a playroom, but I'm not shocked by [the sex in the book], it's essential to tell the story. I can't believe films that don't invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me."
