All customers will receive three free bestselling eBooks and two free top magazines on their devices, Barnes & Noble announced Thursday.
Barnes & Noble is leaving no stone unturned to promote its NOOK devices. After a disappointing 2012 with regards to sales, the company is doing everything in its stride to retain its customers as well as attract new ones.
Beginning August 23, all customers that have downloaded one of the Free NOOK Reading Apps and set up a new NOOK account will receive three free bestselling eBooks and two free top magazines on their devices, the company announced Thursday. The offer is valid for a limited period only, though the expiration date has not been mentioned. The best part of this offer is that customers don't have to own a NOOK device. All they have to do is go to the NOOK website, download the Free NOOK Reading App for their iPhone, iPad or Android device, and set up and register a new NOOK account.
"This great offer of free eBooks and magazines for new customers that download a NOOK Reading App is another part of NOOK's strong commitment to make reading more affordable and accessible in the UK," said Jim Hilt, Managing Director, Barnes & Noble in a press release. "We are excited about the impact we are making on literacy in the UK this summer with our sponsorship of the Get Reading campaign and the corresponding discounts on the award-winning NOOK devices."
The three bestselling books include "Red or Dead" by David Pearce, "The White Queen" by Philippa Gregory and "City of Bones, The Mortal Instrument Book 1" by Cassandra Clare. The free magazines are the August issue of tech magazine T3 and the summer edition of The Simple Things.
The new offer is part of the company's "Get Reading" campaign, which has garnered much attention since its launch. Customers can also buy the NOOK devices at discounted rate online and in stores.
