Beatles Band member Ringo Starr reveals his plans to write a children's book based on one of the iconic band's song titled "Octopus's Garden."
The drummer of the iconic band earlier revealed his plans to publish a book photos from his days with the band and now reveals that he will be writing a children's book based on one of the band's song titled "Octopus's Garden."
Publishers Simon & Schuster Children's Books said Tuesday that it will publish a picture book edition of the song from the 1969 Beatles album "Abbey Road." The book will be accompanied with a CD containing unreleased music from Starr and an audio reading of the story.
The "Octopus's Garden" book will be illustrated by Ben Cory, who also illustrated "Aliens Love Underpants."
"It gives me great pleasure to collaborate with Ben Cort and Simon & Schuster for the further adventures of Octopus's Garden," Starr said of the new endeavor. "Peace and Love, Ringo."
The song was written by the drummer in 1968, while vacationing in Sardinia on Peter Sellers' yacht.
"It's an honor to publish such a music legend," Simon & Schuster Childrens' Books president, publisher Jon Anders said. "The pairing of Ringo's whimsical lyrics with Ben's charming illustrations is a perfect fit. We're happy to bring the magic of this song to a whole new generation of readers."
The children's book will be published in hardback edition October 24, with a paperback edition following the next year. The book will be published in North America in January 2014.
