According to research on 102 nations, Americans and Indians read the most books annually. An average American reads 17 novels yearly, but Indians read only 16. Though digital media is expanding, people still prefer paper books to e-books and applications.
According to a poll with more than 6.5 million responses, people will always want to read classic books. This expansion demonstrates the value of reading in relaxing, generating ideas, and helping one forget about daily issues. Books allow readers to travel to other locations and experience things from several angles.
The US readers spend 357 hours a year reading, the most on the list. Indians are next with 352 hours. The UK, France, and Italy round out the top five with 343, 305, and 278 hours, respectively. People read a lot in these countries, which shows how important books are to their cultures.
Australia, Canada (232 hours), and Russia (223 hours) also read a lot. Spain and the Netherlands are also in the top 10, with 187 and 182 hours of reading a year, respectively. This information shows a worldwide trend of serious readers who prioritize books.
The poll also shows which countries buy the most books. The US buys 275,232 books annually, 30% of the world's book market. China comes second with 208,418 books or 10% of the market. UK, Japan, and Germany also sell many books, showing how important the literary business is to their economies.

The US and India read the most books yearly, but people in other countries also read a lot based on their weekly hours. India has the most readers on this list. They read for 10 hours and 42 minutes weekly or 556.4 hours yearly.
Thai people get 9 hours and 24 minutes a week or 488.8 hours a year, which is second place. People in China (8 hours), the Philippines (7 hours and 36 minutes), and Egypt (7 hours and 30 minutes) also read a lot per week.
The numbers show that people around the world read in different ways. For example, people in France and Italy read 17 and 13 books each year, respectively.
Germany and Spain are interested in reading despite their low yearly rates. Reading is encouraged in South Korea and Japan, which makes the world's writing scene more varied and rich.
