LeBron James collaborates with Illustrator Niña Mata once more for his second children's book, "I Am More Than." This book, released on April 2, encourages children to dream ambitiously and trust their unlimited potential.

The book presents the idea that anyone can be and do anything. It does this by using lively graphics and enjoyable rhymes. "I Am More Than" is a perfect book to read at home, in the classroom, or as a present for noteworthy events.

The Importance of Public Libraries and Reading

In an interview with School Library Journal, James stated that everyone should love libraries since reading is one of the primary facets of education, and libraries are vital for reading. Books are incredibly valuable because they take readers to other locations, show them various scenarios, impart knowledge, and inspire them.

James credited his love for reading and inspiration to become an author to his mother, Little League coaches, and community upbringing. He expressed a desire to give back and promote literacy, aiming to help children realize their dreams through his books. Reading broadens perspectives and opens minds to possibilities. He emphasized that books are an irreplaceable form of learning, making libraries irreplaceable.

Continuing the Mission to Empower Children

The book's message emphasizes self-belief and reaching one's potential to help readers identify their own triumphs.

Acknowledging his role as an inspiration, James feels a significant responsibility to spread positivity and ensure children know they can achieve anything. He highlighted the importance of continually inspiring and believing in kids, even when they feel unseen or discouraged.

James shared that his new book aligns perfectly with his mission at the I PROMISE School and within his community. He emphasized the importance of such books because kids look up to him, both in Akron and globally. The book, which includes themes of arts and sciences, aims to inspire kids to dream big and persevere through challenges. This message is also central to the LeBron James Family Foundation's goal of creating generational change in Akron.

A Visionary Collaborator

James praised illustrator Niña Mata, calling her a unique and unbelievable artist who brings his words and inspiration to life. He highlighted her work in his books, "I Promise" and "I Am More Than," noting how her illustrations effectively show kids believing in and aspiring to greatness. He described her as the perfect collaborator for his projects.

Mata was born in the Philippines and raised in Queens, New York. She attended the High School of Art & Design and studied illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. With her parents working and attending night school, Niña spent much of her time drawing, watching Bob Ross, enjoying "Reading Rainbow," and seeking adventures in the library.
