A second season was confirmed last year. The series has attracted millions of viewers since its release. It now holds the record for the most-watched English-language series ever and won four Emmys.
Ortega, who will also produce the second season, expressed a desire to emphasize the horror elements of the show further. She noted that while the series is lighthearted, featuring vampires, werewolves, and superpowers, it is essential not to take oneself too seriously.
Production for season 2 of the MGM Television-produced series faced delays due to Hollywood strikes in 2023. However, in November 2023, it was announced that filming would commence in late April 2024 in Ireland, a departure from season 1, which was filmed in Romania. Logistical challenges prompted the change in location due to the popularity of the series, which made Romania a tourist destination. Currently, there is no confirmed premiere date for season 2 on Netflix.
The new season will see many surprises, as creators Al Gough and Miles Millar hint at the arrival of additional Addams family members, although specifics are kept under wraps. Additionally, plans for an expanded universe are underway, with a spinoff series focusing on Uncle Fester already in development.
The studio has retained the primary season 1 actors by extending their options while scripts for season 2 are in development. Steve Buscemi and Thandiwe Newton have been cast in undisclosed roles for the new season. Further details are yet to be revealed.
