In the last six months, well-known actress Jennifer Garner has undertaken an uplifting journey, traveling nationwide with a unique companion - a stuffed animal. The 51-year-old "13 Going on 30" star has dedicated her time to reading to children in various schools, captivating their hearts and bringing joy.
In an Instagram video shared on March 2, Garner demonstrated her commitment to children's literacy by reading a book from the cherished "Pete the Cat" series. The video revealed scenes of Garner engaging with kids in schools throughout Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, and California.
These special storytime sessions are not just a delightful pastime for the actress but also part of her meaningful contribution to the nonprofit organization Save the Children. Garner expressed her enthusiasm in the caption, stating that #ReadAcrossAmerica Day is her favorite thing about working for Save the Children. She also said that she and Pete the Cat had a busy six months of meeting and reading to kids.
Throughout the video, Garner displayed her acting prowess, giving different voices and sound effects to the characters in the book. To add a charming touch, she brought a stuffed toy version of Pete the Cat, having him take a bow at the end of the story.
Garner expressed gratitude to educators, acknowledging their role in bringing books to life and fostering a love for reading among America's children. She added that there is nothing happier than reading to kids.

Garner is no stranger to this sincere dedication to literacy. She has been a devoted supporter of Save the Children since 2014. A year after the catastrophic floods, Garner came to Robinson Elementary School in October 2023 to assist with reconstruction efforts. She surprised teachers and students with her visit by bringing 500 books, teacher materials, and 5,000 books to be donated to future libraries.
Actress Amy Adams and Garner joined in 2020 to launch the SAVEWITHSTORIES campaign. This project aimed to make sure kids had access to stories during the COVID-19 pandemic-related school closures. It also gathered money to support families having trouble feeding their kids throughout the crisis.
Garner emphasized the importance of children's libraries and resilience in overcoming challenges. Garner saw her commitment to Save the Children as a serious job, working to rebuild education and support families affected by the floods.
Beyond her work with charities, the "Family Switch" star extended her philanthropic efforts to include her pets. In a recent interview on the We Rate Dogs YouTube channel, Garner shared that her 8-year-old golden retriever, Birdie, has been promoted to a therapy dog. Garnezr will now be working at Children's Hospital L.A. Garner described Birdie as a 'very good dog, a very good girl.'
