Duran Copeland and his three-year-old son, Eli, released a new book, "Dad I Can Read: Eli Learning ABCs With Daddy." In a modern era consumed by digital screens, decreased reading habits in children are overlooked. The father and son duo is determined to revive the pleasure of learning through their recent initiative. This delightful book shares wisdom with young minds and turns reading into a significant bonding experience between fathers and their children.
Duran Copeland, the book's creator, expressed his motivation behind the project, stating that this book is significant for fathers and sons to build a stronger connection. Copeland aims to establish an environment where fathers can engage in meaningful moments with their children, fostering learning and growth.
Inspired by the strong connection he was able to form with his children during bedtime stories, Copeland created a book with his son to celebrate the joy of learning and bonding for fathers like him. Copeland emphasized that building a solid relationship with children is important and rewarding for parents.
"Dad I Can Read" is more than just an ABC book; it is a father-son adventure through the alphabet, brimming with fun and zestful learning. Copeland emphasized, 'I want to celebrate learning together.' The author also said this book is perfect for children aged 3 to 7.
The project took a month from conception to publication, covering formatting, illustrations, and publishing. However, Copeland sees this as just the beginning. He and Eli have plans for a series of books covering various topics, from colors to numbers, all designed to make learning an exciting adventure.
Guiding those aspiring to self-publish, Copeland urges them to aim high and stresses that having a compelling idea and dedication to invest effort is the key to success.

Research from the Murdoch Children's Research Institute highlights the significant impact of fathers reading to their children at home. This practice contributes to increased language development as children grow older. Studies indicate that fathers' involvement in reading fosters strong emotional bonds, enhances vocabulary and language skills, and ignites curiosity and a love of learning.
Another research conducted by the National Literacy Trust shows that parents' involvement in children's literacy development leads to greater social and emotional development. Children will be more resilient to stress, adapt to the environment easily, and build positive relationships with others.
These interactive experiences boost cognitive development and create cherished memories, contributing to a child's overall well-being and emotional security. The result is a well-rounded and enriched childhood shaped by the positive influence of shared stories and learning moments between fathers and their children.
