Windows Phone 8 seems to be making headway as the Nokia Lumia 920 is in high demand and the HTC Windows Phone 8X gets rave reviews following its release, all in time for Cyber Monday.
According to a report by Nasdaq, Nokia sold out its flagship Lumia 920 on Black Friday, Nov. 23.
"[The Lumia] 920 Windows 8 Phone on AT&T (NYSE:T) was completely sold out by mid-day," Trip Chowdhry, the Managing Director of Equity Research at Global Equities Research, wrote in a note to investors and reporters. He added that he was unable to get a converged view on the number of units each store received.
Nasdaq also pointed out that Nokia commands 59 percent of the Windows Phone market according to one study, which is a good look for the Finnish company, Microsoft, and investors.
In another report by TheMarketsAreOpen blog, Amazon is running out of cyan and yellow-colored Lumia 920's because of high demand. The white and black versions can be ordered through Amazon Wireless, but it will take 1-2 weeks to ship instead of immediately.
So why are shoppers willing to go with a Windows 8 phone than other leading smartphones in the market including Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone 5? One reason can be that users just want to try something new, and are getting tired of their Apple and Android products. Another reason could be the specs of these two Windows 8 devices.
