The father of Meredith Kercher, the British woman Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito were accused of killing in 2007, is coming out with a book about his late daughter.
"Meredith: Our Daughter's Murder and the Heartbreaking Quest for the Truth" by John Kercher will be published by Hodder & Stoughton and is set for release in the US and UK on Apr. 26, the Associated Press reports.
The publisher says the book will celebrate Kercher's life and is also an account of the family's "ongoing quest for justice," according to the AP.
The April release date means the book will be out before Knox and Sollecito publish their own books.
Sollecito inked a book deal with Simon & Schuster in March. "Presumed Guilty: My Journey to Hell and Back With Amanda Knox" will arrive in stores Sept. 18, while Knox's memoir is due in 2013, under HarperCollins. Knox's book deal was announced back in February and was reported to be worth approximately $4 million.
"No one has yet heard Amanda Knox's own account of what happened, and this book will give Knox an opportunity to tell the story in full detail, for the first time," HarperCollins publisher Jonathan Burnham said in a statement at the time.
Kercher was found dead in November 2007 in the apartment she shared in Perugia, Italy with Knox and two other roommates. Knox and Sollecito, who were in a romantic relationship at the time, were convicted of murdering the 21-year-old and each sentenced to more than 20 years in prison. Both murder convictions were overturned in October 2011.
"Ultimately we accept the decision and respect the court, but we do find that we are left looking at this again," Kercher's brother, Lyle, said at a press conference following the court ruling, according to an ABC report. "We are back at square one, left wondering what truly happened. It is my understanding that we will go ahead and appeal the decision."
