Many stars are up for the lead role of Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie.

Universal Pictures and Focus Features recently announced the screenwriter, Kelly Marcel, to take on the daunting task of turning E.L. James' BDSM-based novel into a suitable film for a broad audience. So details of a director should emerge soon.

We know your favorites for the sexy 27-year-old Christian include Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, and Alexander Skarsgard. However, Books & Review is creating a new poll to give some other contenders a chance to compete in the already fierce competition.

Jensen Ackles, 34

Ackles' name has been tossed around as Christian for quite some time now.

Although he is also attached to playing the role of Ethan Kavanagh, nany fans believe that the "Supernatural" actor can play Christian Grey the best. A Pinterest page features many photos of Ackles as the sexy billionaire Christian.

The Examiner reported that Ackles has the looks to play either part in the "FiftyShades" film. The website said:

"Yet he seems to truly personify Christian Grey. Jensen Ackles may not be part of the erotic BDSM world but he has many other traits that make him perfect for the role.

"Jensen has a quiet confidence and the charisma to charm any woman. As seen in interviews, he also has the presence needed to play the very wealthy Grey Enterprise Holding's CEO.

"Christian Grey is a skilled, yet modest, pianist and singer. There are many scenes from the book where Ana Steele finds Christian playing the piano alone. She is in awe of his abilities and grows a deeper love for the complex man. Jensen Ackles is known for being a talented singer and guitar player, often taking the stage for jam sessions. While on the series "Dark Angel", Jensen also played a Chopin piece on the piano.

"He went on to say, "I grew-up with piano in my house." Yet another reason why Jensen Ackles personifies Christian Grey."

According to What Culture, Ackles is listed as number one on their list of ten actors that should play mysterious Christian Grey.

"Ackles would bring the necessary dark mystique, and he is another actor who has been suggested by fans," What Culture wrote. "He would certainly be a marketing savvy pick, because fans of Supernatural have been calling out for the opportunity to see him in a more erotic role for some time now."

Ackles plays Dean Winchester on "Supernatural." Most of the time he's busy hunting down supernatural beings, such as vampires and fallen angels, with his little brother Sam (played by Jared Padalecki).

Chris Brown, 23

This singer recently had his name in the headlines as Christian.

Some fans don't see Brown to play the crucial role. He doesn't really fit the description, he's not an actor, and he is a bit too young for the part.

However, someone thinks that Brown is perfect for the role.

According to MTVNews, Lewis named the "Yeah 3x" singer to play the lead role of Christian Grey.

When asked who from the world of pop would she like to portray Grey in the flick, Lewis replied, "For Christian Grey it has to be someone really hot and super smooth. Why am I just thinking of Chris Brown... maybe Chris Brown!"

Brown probably has too many tattoos to play off the role of Christian. GatherEntertainment said, "Obviously some Fifty fans won't want to see Chris tying up a girl and beating her with a paddle after what he did to Rihanna - his BDSM scenes might seem just a little too real."

"Breezy might be a terrible choice for the role of Christian Grey, but he'd probably have no problem playing a character with a troubled past. However, it's really hard to imagine Taylor Swift playing his Anastasia Steele - she works way too hard to portray a good-girl image, so there's no way she'd get anywhere near nipple clamps and butt plugs.

"It's a good thing that Leona is a musician and not a casting director."

Some fans still see Brown as a woman-beater although news hit that Rihanna, his former girlfriend, took him back.

Robert Pattinson, 26

This "Twilight" star has been a fan favorite since the beginning. After all, Christian was inspired by his character in the "Twilight" movies, Edward Cullen, so it's natural that Pattinson would be in the running for the lead role as Christian.

Pattinson recently did an interview and talked "Fifty Shades of Grey," written by bestselling author E.L. James.

When asked if he knew it was based on his character as Edward, he replied, "I think the author has written me out of it. I saw some interview earlier and they went, oh, it could never be him. And I'm like, 'Hey, I'm going to make you pay for that.'"

Is he vying for the role? Is he angry that some think he's not capable to play Christian? Pattinson, 26, has always been a great dodger when it comes to certain questions, not really giving a clear answer.

"It's funny seeing all these other actors so openly like vying for it. I've never seen that happen before. It's so strange," Pattinson said. "I haven't read the whole thing, I read bits of it."

Pattinson openly admitted in the past that he would lick the pages of "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Pattinson revealed that he's always played weird characters (many will argue that vampires aren't weird), so the part of Christian Grey might not be far from weird.

"I mean every part I played is always kind of like sort of weird. But I don't know, I find kind of random things, the movie I'm doing next, is a real guy, an interrogator and he's not particularly weird or anything, he's just like, he's kind of, well he's a little weird," the "Cosmopolis" actor said.

Christian, the 27-year-old sexy BDSM-crazed billionaire, goes through a lot of obstacles and lives in a world that most of us have probably never seen or heard of before. So it might be weird anyway. Who better to play a part like this than an actor who plays weird parts?

Ryan Gosling, 31

This "Drive" star was also one of the first fan favorites for Christian Grey.

According to NOW magazine, James' husband Niall Leonard said that "last he heard," Gosling, 31, was in the frame to play the role of Christian.

It could be that Leonard just heard Gosling as a huge fan favorite and thought he was in the running for the film, but he would know more of the inside story than any of us.

However, bestselling author E.L. James recently denied these rumors on Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

James said those reports were "completely misreported."

"What happened is that his local paper, he's from Northern Ireland, there's a newspaper there called theBelfast Telegraph that reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey. Underneath it they put a picture of Ryan Gosling, as well. So, that's how that came about," James said.

Earlier in September, Extra caught up with Gosling at the Toronto Film Festival to talk about his new film. "The Place Beyond the Pines." He was asked about the possibility of playing Christian, according to WetPaint.

He didn't say much. "I don't... what is this book that everyone is talking about? It seems very popular." He scuttled away very quickly at that point.

WetPaint dubbed Gosling as being "cheeky."

Some believe that Gosling is still in the running for Christian even though James denied the rumors.

Scott Speedman, 37

Although not mentioned as a favorite for Christian, this actor recently made headlines.

According to CelebrityGossip, he landed on the cover of ELLE Canada's first November 2012 bonus issue of its Man magazine.

He wrote a grey coat with a standing collar for the Andrew Macpherson shot spread while talking about filming his ABC show. He recently landed a role on "Last Resort" as XO Sam Kendal.

Speedman is known for his role in "Underworld," which he played a sex scene with Kate Beckinsale, and for his breakout role in TV series "Felicity" in 2002.

The well-known actor also has grey eyes like Christian's, and many women think him to be sexy. Glamour magazine featured Speedman on their "Obsessed" blog, calling him "brooding," which is what someone who will play Christian needs.

Paul Wesley, 30

Not really a huge fan favorite, however many fans know him for his role in "The Vampire Diaries" as Stefan Salvatore.

Wesley is named as a Christian Grey nominee on an IMDb list of stars where he is number six on the list. He's also featured on som Pinterest pages for Christian Grey, as well as some HOT poses that Christian might take on in the movie. One pic shows Wesley in a white buttoned down shirt with a black tie (change it to grey and he might ooze Christian Grey!).

During an interview in August with Sugarscape, about hearing all the sex in the "Fifty Shades" books and playing the role of Christian, he said, "Sounds great, I'm in. Can I start petitioning myself? To do a sex film?" There is also a picture of him in a grey suit with grey tie (NICE).

According to FirstThoughts.org, many fans commented on Wesley playing Christian.

"Paul Wesley as Christian Grey, now thats a movie I can get on board with ;)" Another said, "I've just realised that the way I've imagined Christian Grey's appearance, while reading Fifty Shades, is pretty much Paul Wesley..." "If the Fifty Shades of Grey series becomes a show or movie, I think Paul Wesley would be an amazing Christian Grey ! Just saying ;)" "Please consider Paul Wesley to play Christian Grey, I think a perfect fit!"

On Hypable, another commenter said, "Based on what little I know of the role, I think Paul Wesley would make a much better CG than Ian Somerhalder. Ian's too cuddly."

Noah Mills, 27

Books & Review decided to put an unknown actor because many fans thought whoever should play the role of Christian should be a fresh face and not a well-known actor who is attached to another production.

According to his IMDb profile, Mills started modeling in 2003. He was featured in Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, and featured on many covers of magazines as well as several ad campaigns and catalogs.

He also has an acting side though. In 2010 he started as Nicky who was Samantha's new love interest in "Sex and the City 2."

He also started in "2 Broke Girls" in 2011.

Many know the star for his abs and lips. Maybe that is why fans want Mills to play the important role of Christian Grey. He's also 27-years-old, which is Christian's age exactly.

One commenter on PerezHilton.com wrote, "Actor/Model Noah Mills should be Christian Grey. Google the name, he is perfect for that role."

Mills is also featured on Topsy.com as Christian Grey. A fan posted a photo of him on the Facebook page "Meet Me In The Red Room" saying "I wish Christian Grey will be played by Noah Mills or Henry Cavill."
