Now that the iPhone 5 is out, many are wondering when Apple will unveil the rumored iPad Mini.
While the release date is unknown, many tech websites are assuming Apple will unleash the iPad Mini in October.
Now, a new report is saying that a release date of Nov. 2 makes the most sense.
According to iPad.Blorge, Apple is planning some kind of Keynote address this month, the normal time for a music-related announcement. Apple tends to hold Keynote addresses on Wednesdays, so their guess is that Apple will announce the iPad Mini on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and begin pre-orders on Sept. 19, that Friday after.
Then for the release date:
"Our guess is that it will take at least two weeks, which means Apple's iPad Mini would release to the masses on Nov. 2 - just in time for the holidays."
This seems to go along with rumors of Apple announcing the iPad Mini at an Oct. 10 event.
"By Oct. 10, Misek said he predicts an invitation for an iPad Mini launch event will be mailed out to the media, followed by the formal announcement of the device by mid-October and culminating with the launch of the iPad Mini at the end of that month," eWeek reported. This prediction was made by Jefferies analyst Peter Misek.
CNN also said their sources revealed that the media can expect invitations to go out on Oct. 10.
Many reports say that then Apple will release the iPad Mini in late October.
However, according to CNN, if Apple follows its usual protocol, then Apple will unveil the iPad Mini on Oct 17 with a launch day of Friday, Nov. 2.
New photos of a real iPad Mini surfaced earlier last week. According to Yahoo, Chinese tech blog Bolopad.com revealed new photos of an iPad Mini model that coincide with other leaked photos. The photos show a slim new iPad with a smaller 9-pin dock connector port with a rear-facing camera.
Many are wondering what the price of the small iPad will be, considering other big completion items such as Google's rumored new Nexus 7 tablets, Barnes & Noble Nook HD, Amazon's Kindle Fire HD, and the Microsoft Surface tablet.
One analyst says that Apple might launch the iPad Mini at a $250-$300 price point, cheap enough to convince customers that the iPad Mini is a Nexus 7 or Kindle Fire alternative. Some say it will not have Retina Display.
Many believe that the iPad Mini will be priced similar to the new iPod Touch.
According to Ewan Spence at Forbes.com, he believes also that it will be around the same price as the Touch.
"From the evidence today, I'd expect to see a 16GB iPad Mini with Wi-Fi connectivity to launch at $299, with a 32GB model at $399, and a 64GB model at $499."
According to ZDNet, an iPad Mini "would ideally need to be priced at or below $299 in order to remain competitive in the face of the iPad 2 and 3."
It was reported that Google is making two new versions of the Nexus 7, one that will cost $199 ad one that will cost $99, which is very cheap.
WPTV reported that analysts said that sales of the iPad Mini could struggle if Google decides to lower the price of its Nexus 7 to $99. The Nexus 7 is currently $199, so dropping the price $100 really would heat up the competition.
"An iPad Mini, priced around $249, would substantially soften Amazon Kindle Fire's price advantage and would negate any size advantage. And relative to Android offerings generally, Apple has an edge with content," said AllThingsD.
According to iPad.Blorge.com, "As mentioned, Apple's new iPod Touch rings in at $299, so unless Apple plans on lowering that price, I wouldn't expect to see an iPad Mini priced any lower than $350. A device with 3G will probably cost closer to $400 or $450."
Pricing seems to be an issue for the little Apple tablet. The Kindle Fire HD with 16GB costs $199 while the 16GB Nexus 7 costs $249 with all the Android content. Barnes & Noble recently unleashed their new 7-inch Nook HD, starting at $199, and 9-inch Nook HD+, which starts at $269. The Microsoft Surface Tablet will start somewhere around $300 for the basic Windows-RT version and around $800 for the Windows 8 version.
According to Pop Herald, "If Apple will sell the iPad Mini with a $249.99 price tag, then it will be safe to assume that Apple can sell "millions." But what if the iPad Mini will sit within the $300 to $399 mark? Can it still lure customers?"
