More celebrities are putting themselves out there for the roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

While many fans wish their favorite star would say "Yes I want the role!" the latest star (maybe your favorite?) is Jake Gyllenhaal.

Reported by FiftyShadesFilm, the 31-year-old actor called in to "On the Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Tuesday to talk about his new film "End of Watch." Of course, it turned into talk about "Fifty Shades."

The "Love and Other Drugs" actor was told that fans have been throwing his name out there to play Christian Grey, he said, "That's super flattering. I have not heard that, but if that's true that's a nice thing, always nice to be considered."

When asked if he would actually play the role of Christian, Gyllenhaal said, "Of course, I always want to work, of course!"

This is great news for Jake Gyllenhaal fans! The question is: Is he a good candidate for Christian Grey?

He is definitely handsome. His grey eyes and great acting does give him an edge in the race for Christian Grey. But would female fans want him to play the part considering they already know how they want Christian to look?

"He might look a little too soft and harmless for the role when compared to other favorites like Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder - fans love these actors for the part because their chiseled jaw lines and icy eyes make them look dark and intimidating," reported GatherEntertainment.

However, there is a bright side.

"But surely most Fifty fans will agree that Jake looked rugged and sexy in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and he proved that he can actually do dark and disturbed pretty well in 'Donnie Darko,'" Gather wrote.

Gyllenhaal faces some tough competition though.

Huge fan favorite, "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard recently admitted that he would play Christian Grey.

According to TheStir.CafeMom.com, when asked about that possibility by ET Canada, Skarsgard, 36, responded with, "Of course. It's a great script."

He then said there are "so many variables" when it comes to taking the role and added, "It depends on who's directing it and who's in it." This means that Skarsgard is considering taking the part if offered to him.

Hottie Fitness expert Jessie Pavelka also recently said that he would love to play Christian.

In a new interview with TheDailyQuirk, when asked if he would take on the much coveted role of Christian, Pavelka, 29, said, "I am. It's reminded to me everyday ;)."

When asked how he feels about his fans thinking he is the perfect Christian Grey, he said, "I think it's great and I'm extremely flattered.  It's amazing how social media has changed the game in T.V. and Film.  If this would have happened a few years back, I don't think that my name would be in the mix at all.  I am lucky to be involved in the beginning stages of it all."

In July, Pavelka tweeted, "Thanks for all the support! I would definitely be interested in the role of Christian Grey. At the moment my attention/focus is on AYTSML."

The "Fifty Shades" trilogy ("Fifty Shades of Grey," "Fifty Shades Darker," "Fifty Shades Freed"), written by bestselling author E.L. James, tells the story of 22-year-old recent college grad Anastasia Steele, who enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with 27-year old sexy billionaire Christian Grey, and both explore Christian's world of BDSM while trying to understand their complicated relationship.
