Kail Lowry, a star of the TV series "Teen Mom 2" talks to Fox News about her new children's book "Love is Bubblegum." In this interview, she talks about the definition of love, her TV co-stars, and family.
Compared to her successful memoir "Pride Over Pity" that tackled with difficult topics such as a troubled childhood and emotional scars, "Love is Bubblegum" is a refreshingly innocent take on the universal question "What is Love?" For the book, Lowry puts together children's answers to this elusive question. Illustrator Fuuji Takashi brings these bits of wisdom to life with vivid drawings.
In an interview with US Weekly, Lowry revealed that the idea behind the book came about when her older son Isaac asked the innocent question "What is love?" Lowry says, "I thought, 'This might be a good concept story for a children's book,' so that's when I took it and ran with it."
In response to the question why the book's title is "Love is Bubblegum", Lowry tells Fox News, "So, the title comes from my little cousin who said she loved bubblegum but the book was inspired by my son who asked me what love was and I didn't know how to explain it to him so I went around to my nieces and nephews, my kids and my kids' friends and asked them how it felt, what it looks like, what did it mean to them and then I put the collection of quotes in the book to kind of give all different perspectives of love."
On the topic of love, she said that even if she hasn't figured out what it means for her now, she discovered what true love is when she had her kids, Isaac and Lincoln, while her husband is also a big supporter.
According to her website, Kail Lowry is a mother of two, who first gained attention when she starred in MTV's "16 & Pregnant" prior to being cast in "Teen Mom 2." She is currently working towards a Bachelor's in Mass Communication. Her first book, "Pride Over Pity," is a raw account of her past struggles with being a teenage mother, relationship issues, and psychological trauma, and her transition into a strong woman.
In the interview with US Weekly, Lowry revealed what love is for her son Isaac. She says, "He's like, 'I love when I pet my dog Gizmo.'"
"Love is Bubblegum" is set to be released on Nov. 17.
