The sci-fi films coming to theaters this fall are not ordinary. Most of them are a film adaptation of famous books.
Here are five book-to-movie sci-fi films coming this fall:
Mary Shelley's 1818 horror sci-fi novel has been adapted into the screen many times before. This time, a new film entitled "Victor Frankenstein" will attempt to recreate the classic tale.
The film is starring James McAvoy as Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. The movie is coming to theaters on November 25.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2
The chaotic depiction of dystopian United States is coming to a thrilling conclusion in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2". The film is the fourth and last of the movie franchise that was first released in 2013.
"The Hunger Games" first started as a trilogy by Suzanne Collins with the first book of the same title. "Catching Fire" and "Mockingjay" follows as second and third, respectively. The film adaptation of the third book had been split into two parts. Hence, the last film is entitled "Mockingjay Part 2".
Although the books and films are very popular as a young adult or dystopian in a genre, the books and films have a lot of science fiction.
The advanced technology has been demonstrated in the "Arena" where the "Games" are held. Inside a dome of force field, "Tributes" are exposed to different environments and mutated organisms.
"Mockingjay Part 2" is starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. The film is set for release on November 20.
The upcoming sci-fi film "The Martian" has been adapted from the novel of the same title. It was originally self-published by author Andy Weir.
In the story, NASA astronaut finds himself stranded on Mars with no direct way to contact Earth. Soon, NASA finds out he is alive and finds ways to rescue him.
The film is starring Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain. It is set for release on October 2, 2015.
There is a long line of James Bond films in Hollywood. This upcoming film entitled "Spectre" only comes as twenty-fourth on the list.
James Bond's character was born from a sci-fi novel. This film is also loosely adapted from Ian Fleming's "Thunderball", where James Bond encounters the organization known as SPECTRE.
The film stars Daniel Craig as Agent 007. Other cast includes Christopher Waltz, Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci. The film is scheduled for release on October 26.
Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials
Thomas woke up without any memory in his mind and found himself in a giant, dangerous labyrinth with no known method of escaping.
Soon, he and his friends attempt to find their way out, only to realize that a much bigger and much more dangerous fate lies before them.
Another young adult dystopian thriller is rocking the Hollywood scene this fall. "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is coming to continue the story from the first film entitled "The Maze Runner".
"The Scorch Trials" is starring Dylan O'Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee and Rosa Salazar. The film is hitting theaters on September 19.
