Ezra Miller is set to play the role of The Flash in Warner Bros.' upcoming DC Comics movie adaptation "Justice League," which will be out in three years' time. Before he suits up as the scarlet speedster in the high-profile superhero film, Miller may have to deal with magical creatures first.
According to Variety, the actor is said to be in negotiations for a key role in the highly-anticipated "Harry Potter" spinoff titled "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." The film features Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander.
The site says that Miller, who starred in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" with Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, is up for the role of a man with magical powers named Kredan, who will chance upon Newt in New York City as he travels around looking for mystic beasts.
Warner Bros. is yet to comment on Miller appearing in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" but The Hollywood Reporter would like to think that the actor's inclusion in the spinoff is the studio's way to build up his resume as he moves on to become Barry Allen/The Flash.
Miller will also reportedly make a cameo appearance in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" as the fastest man alive. He will also be seen in an upcoming Universal comedy film by Judd Apatow titled "Trainwreck" in July.
Should the star officially hop onboard, Miller will bulk up the confirmed "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" ensemble, which, as of this writing, only includes Redmayne and Katherine Waterston, who was cast to play one of the two female lead roles, the American witch Porpentina.
Warner Bros. is yet to cast two more key characters, Newt's rival Jacob and Porpentina's little sister Queenie, which could eventually be snagged by Alison Sudol, who is director David Yates's choice to play the role. Meanwhile, Josh Gad and Michael Cera are up for the big baddie role.
Set 70 years before the events in the "Harry Potter" films, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" follows the adventures of renowned magizoologist, Newt Scamander, as he travels far and wide to discover magical beasts. Scamander serves as the author of the fictional book of the same name, which was seen in its parent films.
The movie is said to be the first film in a planned trilogy and is set to hit the silver screen on November 18, 2016.
