PM Press Becomes First Publisher To Launch E-book Bundling Program

PM Press became the first book publisher to offer an eBook bundling program where free e-books are distributed with nearly every one of the physical books purchased on its Website.

The new imitative is part of its Paperback Plus! program launched earlier this month. Press co-founder Craig O'Hara, who handles marketing and events for PM, confirmed that the publisher will continue to sell eBooks separately as well provided a market for it continues to exist.

"I can see eventually offering free or inexpensive e-book downloads to all buyers of the hard copy with a printed coupon code, regardless of where they purchased the book," he said, according to Publisher Weekly. "I still feel hard copy is superior to read. I don't want to see things going [all] digital. We've been pressured to bring our e-books down to $8.95."

The new program is another feature in PM's hat of success observed in the last six years. The company was founded in 2007 by Ramsay Kannan during The Great Recession. Last year the company announced a million dollars in gross sales for the first time. The company also reported a newly signed contract to extend its distribution agreement with IPG for another three years

"Our sales with [IPG] are well over a half million dollars and returns are down because we're selling less to Barnes & Noble," said O'Hara.

The publishing house is all set to release a new novel by bestselling author Karen Joy Fowler "The Science of Herself," which will be published this October under author Terry Bisson's Outspoken Authors imprint.
