recently uncovered book reveals Princess Diana's brother Earl Charles Spencer's honest sentiments for Meghan Markle. The information has rekindled discussions over the dynamics inside the British royal family. The book asserts that Earl Spencer was concerned about Meghan's suitability to join the royal family during her courtship with Prince Harry.

Earl Spencer Expresses Concerns About Meghan Markle

The book, "Revenge" by royal author Tom Bower, claims Earl Spencer was taken aback when he first met Meghan. Bower reports that the Spencer family, including Earl Spencer, were shocked by Meghan and cautioned Prince Harry to take things slow in their rapid romance.

Despite Harry's deep affection for Meghan, his uncle's concerns were evident and firm. Harry hoped his family would recognize the qualities he admired in Meghan, even comparing her to his late mother, Princess Diana. However, this comparison did not resonate with the family.

According to the book, Earl Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Baroness Jane Fellowes, and family confidante Julia Samuel did not see any resemblance between Meghan and Diana, contrary to Prince Harry's hopes. They also believed Meghan would struggle to fit in with the royal family.

Bower described how tensions escalated, noting that following the Vanity Fair article, Meghan felt her neighbor in Kensington Palace became increasingly distant due to heightened suspicions from the Cambridges. Harry had introduced Meghan to Diana's sisters, Jane and Sarah, and her close friend Samuel, hoping they would perceive similarities between Meghan and Diana.

Bower asserts that Earl Spencer, influenced by Prince William, intervened in the relationship, urging Harry to reconsider his haste toward marriage due to his own experience with three marriages. This advice provoked a bitter reaction from Harry.

Prince Harry's Reflections, Marriage, and Recent Developments

Prince Harry warmly recalled his first date with Meghan, describing it as a magical moment that cemented his affection for her. He recounted a singular photograph capturing the moment they sat in a cozy restaurant, realizing their mutual desire to explore a relationship. Then, he felt a profound realization, thinking Meghan was fantastic and everything he had been looking for and that she was incredibly comfortable and relaxed in his company.

Harry and Meghan wed in 2018. Since then, their marriage has faced significant public and media scrutiny, especially concerning their interactions with the rest of the royal family.

Interestingly, Earl Spencer recently showed public support for Harry at the Invictus Games 10th-anniversary service, an event celebrating the sporting achievements of wounded, sick, or injured veterans and serving military personnel. Meghan was notably absent from this event. Harry, reflecting on the successes of the Invictus Games, stressed the significance of the international community they have built and the continued necessity of their efforts amid global uncertainties.

Bower's book offers fresh insights into the inner workings of the royal family and underscores the challenges and complexities surrounding Harry and Meghan's relationship from the outset.
