The writer himself has vowed to fans during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he hopes to be done with the book before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 6, which is supposed to be based on the book that's yet to appear and is now in production for an April 2016 release.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he said during the interview.

In order to do so, he skipped appearances in conferences and interviews, which he usually goes to. In fact, even if another book of his that goes by the title "The Skin Trade" has been optioned for TV series by Cinemax, he remains adamant in taking no other projects to finish "Winds of Winter."

"While I would have loved to write the script and run the show myself, that was never really in the cards. I have this book to finish. You know the one," Martin writes in Not A Blog, pertaining to the most talked book that his throng of fans have been waiting for around five years now and that should constitute to an early 2016 release too.

The general consensus is that "Winds of Winter" will be out and about by 2016. If this is accurate, either Martin has already crossed the finish line or he is very close to. Interestingly, reports that make it look like it is the former abound.

Just recently, Kpop Starz rematerialized reports about a Polish translator named Michal Jakuszewski who is purportedly tasked to convert a manuscript of the title into the said language by the end of the year. That means that if "Winds of Winter really is ready for translation, Martin should be done writing the whole thing by now.

Fans believe that they will see "Winds of Winter" in the flesh before April next year. As for the story, Martin has long urged that they should prepare for a big twist that is going to "drive [them] crazy." For now, readers are still far from winning the waiting game.
