Adele Has Drinking Problem Says New Book

A new biography on Adele claims that the Grammy winning singer had a drinking problem. "Adele: The Biography" by Mark Shapiro will hit stores on July 17.

Shapiro writes that Adele's issue with alcohol stemmed from the abandonment she felt for most of her life after her father left her and her mother when Adele was just 3-years-old.  After her alcoholic father left the family, Adele's mother who had her daughter when she was just 18-years-old, was forced to make due as a single mother.

In Interviews, Adele has said that she has a very close relationship with her mother who she said was the coolest mother. She credits her mother for cultivating her creativity and encouraging her to dream big.

But not having a father around, Shapiro claims, was a struggle for the family who moved around from time to time. For Adele her father's disappearance led to a great deal of emotional outrage, which resulted in her taking to alcohol at a young age.

As an adult, the abandonment played out with Adele looking for love in the wrong places and putting up with abusive relationships. There is also detail in the book of the bullying Adele dealt with in school because of her weight as well as a bisexual first love who made her feel very insecure.

However, it appears that Adele has finally found a good guy in her current boyfriend, Simon Konecki, who Shapiro says has helped her deal with her issues with alcohol.
