A brand new trailer for "Supergirl" is now out and about, inviting viewers to witness the story of the fearless Kryptonian pre-ordained to be National City's protector. While no new footage was shown, the trailer reaffirmed why the world needs a hero and why Kara fits that bill.
The clip started with Winn almost getting a heart attack after Kara's suicidal approach of telling him who she really is. The rest of the footage saw the heroine don the cape, resist bullets, deter a missile, destroy a truck by kicking a bad guy to it and break a concrete wall by throwing another one.
Notably, this is the first "Supergirl" TV spot that fans got to hear the axe-wielding alien Vartox speak. As per Bleeding Cool, the villain was inspired by Sean Connery's portrayal in "Zardoz." Owain Yeoman plays the character in the series although he wasn't made to dress up the way Vartox did in "Zardoz."
Vartox will be the first villain Supergirl will have to defeat. In the trailer, he announced, "On my planet females bow before the males," before being flung into a barricade by the blue9-and-red-clad superhero.
"Basically, my character was sent to Earth to find Supergirl but is then put in prison by her mother and is a bit angry," Yeoman told Wales Online, which mentioned how the actor looks a lot like Connery, making him very much perfect for the baddie role.
"It's a bit of a change for me because I get to play someone completely different from my previous characters. He's someone completely hell-bent on destruction," he went on to say, adding that "filming was great fun."
As per Yahoo, the "Supergirl" trailer also gave fans a look at the people, good and bad, around Kara as she saves the day as Supergirl and works as an assistant to probably the most demanding boss on the face of the earth.
The clip glimpsed Jeremy Jordan as tech expert Winslow Schott, who is Superman's nemesis named the Toyman in the comics. Also, fans saw Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Kara's boss and the founder of CatCo.
In the trailer, she expressed her interest with Supergirl. "There is nothing people love more than a hero. Go get me that girl," she said in the trailer.
"Supergirl" stars "Glee" alum Melissa Benoist as the titular character. The new DC Comics adaptation will premiere on CBS on October 26, 2015.
