Not too long ago, Books N Review reported Amazon and Netflix's refusal to have "Hannibal" around after NBC confirmed that the serial killer's gruesome tales will only last three seasons, at least in the network's territory. Executive producer Bryan Fuller explained more about this during the San Diego Comic-Con.

As shared by Seattlepi.com, Fuller said that Amazon already has a streaming license for "Hannibal" seasons 1 and 2. Amazon Prime, the streaming sect of the digital giant, had the interest in resurrecting the cannibalistic doctor for season 4 but with certain terms that Fuller just couldn't fulfill.

"Amazon would like to have done it, but they wanted to do it very quickly, and I wanted to be able to get all the scripts in advance before a fourth season," Fuller said as quoted by the aforementioned site. "Their desire to put it on immediately, it was just impossible to do for us," he added.

Meanwhile, Netflix simply shook its head because of the existing rights package Amazon has for the past seasons of "Hannibal." Fuller had promised before that he was keen on exploring possibilities. In the event, he hinted that "Hannibal" may not be renewed for season 4 but may live on in the form of a film.

"We are still looking. We don't have a lot of answers and we're looking at the possibility of a feature," the showrunner said as quoted by Cinema Blend, adding that they are "fully committed" to establishing a greater legacy for the series.

"Hugh and Mads are very committed to the show and would love to continue with the show, so the way this season ends, there may be an opportunity for a little break and hopefully we'll find a way to bring Mads and Hugh back to you," Fuller said, addressing the throng of fans that showed up for the event.

Meanwhile, "Hannibal" season 3 is closing in on the much-awaited grand entrance of Francis Dolarhyde, aka Red Dragon to be played by Richard Armitage, who was there on the panel. The actor has prepared for the role and promises that fans will see a little more of the villain than expected.

"There's something about Dolarhyde which has a kind of innocence to him, which sounds odd considering how complicated and how dark his world is," the actor said via Entertainment Weekly.

"But it was always fluctuating between an innocent, childlike mind and a very complicated man, and so I spent half of this series naked...wearing the tattoo, which I guess how Dolarhyde felt, is a kind of clothing to him," he explained.

As for Will, who Hugh Dancy portrays, the character is still alive even after three years (time jump to happen between this week and next week's episode). "Will has fully retreated from the world of Hannibal, and he has found a life for himself and indeed a wife for himself," the actor said via Entertainment Weekly.

"Hannibal" season 3 continues with episode 7 titled "Digestivo" set to air on July 16.
