Comic Books to Movies: 5 Biggest Titles to Watch For in 2016

When it comes to comic books, it's a battle between Marvel and DC comics. Meanwhile, when it comes to film adaptations, it's a battle between Fox, Warner Bros. and Disney.

Here are five film adaptations of comic books coming next year:

1. "Deadpool" - 20th Century Fox

Known as Marvel Comics' anti-hero story, Deadpool tells the story of a Special Forces operative, who has gone through an experiment where he gained healing powers.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. The cast includes Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller and Gina Carano.

After the first look at the trailer during Comic-Con 2015, blurred audience shots are starting to surface online, The Independent reports.

The film is set to be released on February 12, 2016.

2. "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" - Warner Bros.

As the title states, "Batman vs. Superman" tells the story of a big fight between two powerful superheroes threatening the safety of mankind.

Earlier this month, Entertainment Weekly released exclusive photos showing fans what to expect in the upcoming movie.

The cast includes Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

3. "Captain America: Civil War" - Walt Disney Motion Pictures

The "Captain America: Civil War" panel may have been missing at the San Diego Comic-Con, but the movie cannot be missed.

The new film tells the aftermath of Age of Ultron when the world is threatened by a new enemy while the Avengers become divided by a high tension between Captain America and Iron Man.

According to entertainment.ie, the film is going to be a "cameo war" with many high-profile appearances in the movie.

The cast reportedly includes Chris Evans, Avengers' Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, William Hurt and Tom Holland, who is making his debut as Spider-Man before his upcoming reboot.

The film is set to be released on May 6, 2016.

4. "X-Men: Apocalypse" - 20th Century Fox

The trailer of "X-Men: Apocalypse" is reported to be among the trailers that wowed the audiences at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, The Daily Beast reports.

The film centers on the danger brought by villain Apocalypse, who plans a world domination and tries to lure Magneto and other characters to help with his plans.

The cast members reprising their roles include Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Lucas Till as Havoc.

The film is coming to theaters on March 27, 2016.

5. "Suicide Squad" - Warner Bros.

While other films in this list tell heroic stories, "Suicide Squad" is about a group of villains who accepts a classified government mission that is dangerous enough to send them straight to their grave.

According to The Guardian, the "Suicide Squad" trailer was also reportedly leaked along with the "Deadpool" trailer.

The leaked trailer shows the film stars Will Smith and Jared Leto, who portray Deadshot and Joker respectively. The cast also includes Margot Robbie, Cara Delevigne and Jai Courtney.

The film is set for release on August 5, 2016.
