'Fear the Walking Dead' Trailer & Premiere Date: Meet LA's Zombies Now [Spoilers]

In "The Walking Dead", Rick had woken up alone in a strange, new world already filled with weeks- to months-old walkers.

He then met other skilled apocalypse survivors and soon became an all-around leader of the surviving team.

"Fear the Walking Dead", AMC's new spin-off series set in Los Angeles, is going to reveal how the world full of living humans transformed into an abandoned town full of "walkers."

The Trailer

The first look at the "Fear the Walking Dead" trailer was revealed at its Comic-Con panel in San Diego, The Guardian reports

[Spoiler alert!] Here are a few hints generously given by the actors and producers during the San Diego Comic-Con 2015.

1. The new series is a fresh start.

During the finale of "The Walking Dead" Season 5, more and more killings, both by walkers and humans, have surfaced.

In this spin-off series, there are no seasoned walker-killers like Daryl or Michonne.

According to executive producer Dave Erickson, as quoted by Vulture, "It's a process watching the characters come to terms with it all. They don't assume these people will die."

"They just think they're sick or on something. 'Fear the Walking Dead' is an opportunity to explore that," he adds.

2. There is no all-around hero with a sheriff hat.

While the star of "The Walking Dead" is a police officer that is ready to face anything with a bag of guns, the new series is starring an ordinary high school teacher.

"I love Travis," said actor Cliff Curtis about this role. "He's an optimist, and he's in love with Madison and has a beautiful ex-wife and two sons; he's a high-school teacher."

Unlike the story of "The Walking Dead", where the star wakes up to start a journey alone, the new spin-off series starts it story with a family.

"I liked the humanity of the script. It's great because they're completely unprepared." He continued. "My character has no skills, so that's interesting; it's a really great setup."

3. Zombies look a lot nicer in this series, which just makes them more dangerous.

Ragged clothes, noisy growls and the unpleasant smell automatically mean zombies.

However, when the apocalypse first started, when everyone was either turning or running, no one could easily tell apart the living and the dead.

"This is more like you're sitting next to someone and they don't look quite well," said executive producer Greg Nicotero. "Your first instinct isn't to shoot them in the head. There's still a little light in their eyes and not so much aggression."

This kind of fresh zombie transformation happened in "The Walking Dead" when Rick's best friend Shane died. Minutes after becoming a "walker," he looked only slightly different from his usual self.

The series stars Cliff Curtis as Travis, Kim Dickens as Madison, Frank Dillane as Nick, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, Ruben Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Mason as Ofelia and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris, as reported by The Guardian.

According to MTV, the series will air on August 23.
